Did I put away my boat too early?

man.. did I pack up the boat too early? Supposed to be nice tomorrow and people are saying the bass bite is INCREASING the last few weeks?

I remember the Halloween blizzard 15 years ago.. and that would have been almost a week ago.. so you never know.. seems with the climate warming... the fishing season is lengthening... certainly is a good side to "global warming"...

How many of you are actaully still going out for bass?

I went out for a few hours on Mink/Sommer's Lake and didn't get a bite. I never fished the lake so I didn't know where to go. PLUS all the docks I'm accustom to fishing were pulled out.

Water temps were 48 degree's; I'm wondering if that had anything to do with tight lips today?

Anyone else been out and catching fish!?!?

Went to a small lake south of Underwood on Saturday. Water temp was 47. I tried jigs, spinnerbaits and a few cranks on the weedline and got only a few snot rockets. I switched to a black stickbait and caught 15 bass off shoreline wood. 2 over 4 pounds and 3 over 3. the biggest being a 4.10. The bite was super light. But today I put the boat to bed for the year. I wanted to end the season on a winning note. Time to start making baits and stockin' up for next year!!

Went and chucked a spinnerbait on a metro lake during the Vikes game. Ended up with 11 pike and 5 largemouths, biggest pike went about 4 lbs and the biggest bass was approaching 3 lbs. I also missed a quite a few strikes, but the action was pretty consistent. I thought to myself that it was a great way to end the open water season, but if these temps hold up, I might give it another go.

You sure did! The smallmouth and largemouth are going nuts. Catching them in shallow water yet. I can't believe this. I just came back from Kansas and never expected to be fishing this late in the year. Green Lake has been good for at least 20-30 brown fish a day and some of the smaller lakes, Kings (North of Freeport), Spunk (By Avon), Big Birch (By Grey Eagle) are good for at least that many largemouth. Most of the fish are running over a 3# average with lots of them in the 4# range to. It's a happy day when you can catch them on spinner baits and jerk baits. They are really crushing the baits to. Loads of fun. My boat will probably get buried in the first snowstorm because I just can't put it away.

I to remember the Halloween Blizzard. Went bow hunting with snowshoes the day after.

Good fishing.

Bass on my favorite lake/s finally petered out in the last week or so, we were catching numbers of 2-3lb. fish with the odd bigger one, last two outings this week & last just two bass & lots of northern. On the other hand, I know they're still there, & if I could bring myself to go to jig & pigs, I bet they'd still be hitting (I know there's something wrong with me, but I love catching the slimers too & they're hitting all the time right now on fast-moving baits!).

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
