Ice leaders and HotSpotOutdoors would like to welcome all of the EastCoaster readers! This is an exciting bit of expansion and I look forward to getting the lowdown on how the fishing is done out there.

I think this addition will be a good one for all!

Again, we welcome you aboard and hope that you will find yourselves at home here!

I'd also like to welcome Bob D as our new moderator for this forum.

Bob is an avid ice and open water angler with a lot to offer in regards to fishing info, tips, techniques, etc. A great source of info and someone who I've learned a lot from in the last year or so from reading his posts. Bob provides some valuable insight on a lot of subjects pertaining to ice fishing. I'm excited to have him aboard!

Welcome Bob! smile.gif

I'd like to welcome Bob also. Last year he really showed us all a few cool tricks he has up his sleeve.

He has some amazing video of underwater camera footage. I also like the tool he uses for holding pike. Oh ya , and the ice auger race, that's pretty cool too!

Eastcoast/Westcost... Is that just a rap thing?

(OK. Half the people reading didn't get that but thats OK.)

Sorry. I can't help myself sometimes!! And most of us are Midwesterners so we should be OK ah'ight? grin.gif

Along with the others, I would like to welcome Bob_D to the "Northeast Forum". While we may all fish different bodies of water, different species of fish, different lakes; I have learned over the years that a slightly different perspective on tackle & techniques can be very advantageous. A perch is a perch whether its in New Hampshire or Minnesota and a perch's tendencies tend to remain the same. On a broader level, ice fishing is ice fishing and Bob_D has a very interesting perspective that most of us can benefit from.

Welcome Bob!!

Close but no cigar!! I guess Massachusetts is not good enough for a forum? Hey I caught a lot of nice LM Bass and huge Crappie the last couple of years out here near the coast! Any other people from out this way? You guys out there are lucky as you get hardwater sooner than we do here. I'll be lucky to have safe ice before the New Year out here. Best of luck fishin when you all get safe ice...

I'm down with that as long as you use the right color flags on your tip-ups. wink.gif

Don't look at me....I did not even know I was a moderator. wink.gifgrin.gif Don't worry...I won't kick you out for posting about fishing in Mass. blush.gifgrin.gif

Thanks again for the welcome guys. I imagine it's going to be a little slow for a while. Most people are in a holding pattern right now.

Welcome Mr. Bobby D cool.gif! You more than likely don't remember me, but I won a 1st place in The 2nd Annual Ditilio / Rozzi Derby a few years back with the only northern pike weighed in that weekend smile.gif. This is were you handed me a complimentary lure that changed the way I troll for lakers ! What you handed me was a green backed Nils Master Stalwart and the lakers haven't stopped coming in the boat ever sensesmirk.gif. I'd like to say thank you for that little introduction!

But enough reminiscing. I was up around Carmi and Fairfeild ponds this weekend. There's two inches on both right now. I'd say with the coming cold snap that should almost triple by then. I'm sure they'll be ready to fish by the coming weekend. Just wondering if you had any tips for early ice on either pond for jigging northerns or walley's ? Maybe some panfish smirk.gif?... Thanks in advance and once again thanks for the introduction to the Stalwart grin.gif!

Ok I'll be the token person from Maine. Good to see a midwest site that realizes there is actually fishing this far East.Seem to be some good folks on here and interesting info. Right now I'm waiting for some safe ice. Ours wasn't all that good to start with and 2 inches and more of rain has made a mess of even what we had. But 6 inches of new snow and a more normal weather patern and we should be back in business. Could be worse we all could live in way Northern Maine and be digging out from a 36" Christmas snowdump.

Bob D are you from up around Misisqui Bay area? Have been up and fished there.

Are you sure that you have the right guy? Maybe you are thinking about Jim Dattilio? I don't remember giving out any lures.

Yeah, I'm sure ! You were standing next to Jimmy at the presentation table at the time. Maybe it was an inadvertant hand off, but it was a great lure you handed me just the same ! grin.gif
