Is there a trick to removing marine carpet that has been installed well and a long time ago? Or is it just a matter of rip and scrape?

Believe me, we've tried almost everything and rip and scrape it is. Sometimes chemicals can help, but they also make a big mess of their own. Good ol' elbow grease.
