Silver Thread?

gunflint

Question

Someone left a 300 yard spool of 8# Silver Thread AN40 colpolymer for me to use. I'll never abandon Fireline but was considering the Silver Thread for snell material. Has anyone used it for this purpose? Do you have to wet the knot? Do you need to use any special knots? Should I just toss it? Thanks

Gunflint I thought you were a Power Pro guy? Anyways you can use the Silver Thread but I dont care for it. Too stiff for my liking. It may be a decent leader material though. Try it out and see. Dont toss it if nothing else you can hang X-mas decorations with it. Thats a lot of line to waste.

I answered my own question. I tied up a couple of rigs this morning using the Silver Thread and caught severeal nice walleyes. The knot gaveway on a snag but that could have been user error, other wise it worked fine.

I'm a Ford and Chevy man, and a Power-Pro/Fireline guy. I prefer Fireline on spinning reels and Power-Pro on baitcasters.

I'm off Monday and Friday this week if you can make it up.
