I was trolling the other day and when I stopped I dragged in my lure and sure enough there was a big fat fish trailing her in. I pulled it out of her mouth on figure 8 and while I was contemplating suicide I got to wondering how many fish come up and take a lure while you are trolling.

How much would you guys pay for a trolling crank-bait with a digital camera inside that would tape a low quality movie for a full day and then could be hooked up to your computer that night and download the video with a little USB port thingee. You could even paint it red and shape it like a duck.

I'd pay alot.

I would have to think that all of the fab five (LOTW,Leech,Mille Lacs,Vermillion,Cass)hold 60" fish. Just laying out in the middle chowing on suspended fatty baitfish. I know if I seen one on a "trolling camera" you would never see my boat move of that spot. grin.gif I would need a floating mailbox.

Ha ha that was agood one!!

I think the idea is a good one, except for the fact that a muskie or pike could do some damage to a lure and I don't suppose a camera inside would hold up to well. Besides, to make a camera that small would have to be spendy eh?

Get er done!

I have seen the footage on fishing shows showing a bait being trolled and the fish coming up and smacking it. I think they have something that attaches right to the line from the looks of and the camera then points back toward the boat. It would definitely be cool but it might make ya sick in the process. (especially if it was a 60"!)

I did some checking and I found one company that has them for use with a downrigger it looks like. Pretty cool pictures. www.strikevision.com

last year on the big v we ran into the dnr doing there fish count. the story was they had netted one just shy of 61 inches the day before. went to the bar later the next day and the same story was the bar talk that night (of course all the talk was about how many walleyes a fish that big would eat - all the old time locals sure dont like they put those things in there).

Hiya, The footage some of you have seen at sport shows of muskies hitting trolled lures was taped off the Walker Downrigger Strike Vision system by a guy named Bob Wolf. Bob is a charter captain/guide on the St. Lawrence River. I fished with him last fall and got to see the camera setup in action. Wow is it ever cool. You can see fish coming up to follow and hit, and since the water's so clear (visibility is 25+ feet) you can see them coming for a LONG ways. Pretty fun to watch while you're waiting for a rod to go off. Heading out there for a week in December - can't wait... smile.gif

Cheers,

RK
