aquaview depth marking

rosspj59

Question

I just purchased a used aquaview camera. How do you uwc users mark your depths on the cord. Do you use tape or paint, or something else. If I mark suspended fish with a depth finder it would be nice to know how far down the camera is in the water so I could be near the fish and also not bounce it off bottom. What do you use to mark depths so you know how much cord is down in the water?

I work for an automation company and we build control panels and wire them. We use "Brady" labels that are self-laminating wrap around style. I use these on the cable, and they have held up perfectly for about 4 years. They are somewhat like scotch tape (the best similarity I could describe) and a white section on one end to write on. Then, there is clear label that you wrap around on itself and it self-laminates. Stop by one of the electrical distribution outfits (Border States Electric in Brooklyn Park, Werner Electric in Mpls, or Viking Electric in Mpls) and they should be able to give or sell you a few. "Panduit" is also another company that you could use. The big box stores might have these as well.

Anybody have other ideas?

Shoot me an email at [email protected] with your address, and I'll send you 10 or so in the mail if you like. It might be a pain to try to find these labels in minimum quantities. I'd recommend every 5 or 10 feet. I have mine marked at 10' and feel it's adequate.
