ScottND
OK, so I'm a little anxious. I took 6 days off during Thanksgiving for fishing....what do ya think? Boat or walking on the water? Detroit Lakes area.
fisherman
Flip a coin! I hope its Ice Fishing time by then. Just pray to the Ice Gods for some clear sky'd nights with no wind and you just might be walking on the water.
Matt Johnson
It sure would be nice if we were ice fishing by then down here. I'm sure you could find ice somewhere up north. Usually there are places to ice fish by Thanksgiving...Good Fishin,Matt Johnson
slick814
My best bet is that in the Northern parts of the state there'll be enough ice to be on the hard stuff, but not wuite yet here in the Metro... although the fingers are crossed that we have enough here by then. If there's ice up there, I'll be hitting a favorite Crappie spot up North... and posting pics with huge smiles all around!

Captain B.R.K
Anyone have dates as to where walk able, fish able, ice was last year. I suppose I could do a search of last year, but that seems like a lot of work So does anyone have some dates they recorded from last year?? hanson
Captain- I don't like year to year facts. They are never consistent. With that said, 2 years ago, we were snowmobiling on Upper Red Lake with 7-8 inches of ice and lots of snow on Thanksgiving Day!
Captain B.R.K
Yeah, facts are over rated.....like work You were up on URL over Thanksgiving with sleds 2 years ago?!? WOW I thought the last few years ice came relatively late up north.

LittleRanger
If you are thinking metro...........Coon Lake, west of Forest Lake is the first to freeze. The channel between the lakes freezes up real fast. There is one hole, some pike and panfish. Not going to get a trophy, but you'll see yer flag go up a few times................... fishnhooks
Last year I spent the first half of the day fishing (In a boat) and the other half Pheasant hunting. It was the most fun Thanksgiving I had in a long time. Hoping to recreate it for this year. "hooks"
pegleg
We have been going up to the Battle Lake area over Thanksgiving the last 3 years. Here is what we did on the Friday after Thanksgiving:3 years ago - ice fished small lakes and close to shore on Battle lake2 years ago - same as 3 years ago but slightly more ice.Last year - bar hopped all day - no ice.Every year was a lot of fun so even if there isn't ice, still go.
