Boat - motor questions

Would anyone be able to tell me what size motor would go onto a 12ft aluminum hull Lund? Some people have told me 3HP would be fine. Some say no bigger than 5HP.

I am looking to get one for my boat but I dont want to get something that ends up being too big.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Whats the motor rating say, should be on a plate mounted on the transom.
I would think a 5 or 6 hp would be a good match.

I didnt even know there was that info on the plate. Learn something new every day

As ST said .. look for a plate on the transom .. it should say the max HP. If there is no plate you may be able to call a dealer to get some help.

I had an old alumacraft 12' that had a max rating of 10 hp... thats what I had on the boat and it worked great, a 6 hp also worked well.
