Reel Lube

jig n' jerk

Question

What is the best way to lubricate your spinning and baitcasting reels. Also, what is the best kind of lube? If you guys could help me out with a little info that would be great.

Kurt Joly

PS: I heard from an old timer that nothing beats vasoline. But I was skeptical about mixing what is in there with vasoline ( I don't know if they would be compatible together).

on most spinning rrels; to get to the inside you undo the handle. one side of the reel will have a plte held in place by three or four screws. take the screws out and carefully remove the plate. this opens the entire gearcase/box. then you can clean and or relube the reel.pay attention when you pull it apart, and go slow til you see how everything fits together.
