JR back with JR....Mistake or Not???

Is bringing Eury Jr. back over to #8 really going to fix DEI? I could see if the #15 was leap and bounds ahead of the #8 all season, but that just isn't the case. Both teams are terrible to say the least. One has to think with the $$ DEI has they would have went with a high profile Crew Chief.

Slugger went and won a race with a Dodge (gasp) and even made the Chase, so is it the Crew or the is it DEI. I'm assuming the later of the two. Not good news for DEI fans.

It is great news for me, my wife has been converted to the #8 badwagon.

I don't think its the answer to the DEI issues, but I'm assuming they know they need to do more than just this. I would say they need some major organizational improvements and some overall team improvement in the engineering/design/fabrication areas. I think Eury Sr. running those obviously isn't working...

This could be the first of many changes at DEI.We can guess all day,but hopefully they have all the changes in line and then they need all the support to gel as a team. They will do it.

#8 qualified 3rd finished 5th not to terrible.

Where is the flak for the Hendrick teams?? They have four and a half cars and only one makes the chase. With all of the resources avail to them. Why the scrunity for DEI? I would bet Hendrick's dollars are more than DEI

Because he is the "face of nascar". Because he has the most fans. And people that actually know something about racing are trying to point out to the billions that the guy is a loser and will never win a cup. Bandwagon. Bandwagon. Bandwagon. Maybe he should actually earn something.

And, I'll say it, #24 sucked this year, not counting his early wins. But Dei sucked even worse. And, I just bought a starter for my car..... from CHECKER. So take that, bam, yeah, you like that, uhhn, yeah. grin.gif

Its just racing.

NAPA, you yourself said wins weren't the only thing is racing. If your going to have a list you should also count poles, cups, rookie of the year stats, fast laps, wins in one season and laps lead. Harvick comes in last on that then maybe Marlin. What Kenseth and Busch have far outweigh Jr.s accomplishments.

Why is it everytime someone has an opinion, the next guy has to bash whats been said. I have drivers I like and dislike, but I am not going to call any of them losers. They would not be in the nascar business if they were losers now would they. I think Jr will have a much better season next year than he has this year. I think the changes this year that were made will help him in the future. So to answer the question, I dont think it is a mistake.

To be honest, I don't see having the two back together is going to make a huge amount of positive change. Will it help...probably, but I am betting it is not to the extent that DEI is possibly hoping for.

What lacks at DEI is leadership and PR skills. The way they dealt with NAPA was a clear example of how poorly things are going for the company. Now, they have no full sponsorship for the 15, the 1 only has half a year, and they are now searching for a driver (I am unsure they have found anyone for the 15 yet). It will come down to leadership....they need it to stay competetive.
