I had an awesome HSOforum for arial photos but my hard drive crashed and I lost it. It wasnt terraserver. It was actually from the mn gov HSOforum. Can anyone help me out with this one? The pictures were very clear and they were only a year old.

Thanks

It was from the LMIC site. Link is below.

As a side note, this is a state agency that does plenty of good work in the state of MN relating to everything from the aerial photos here, to digital soil surveys, and many other forms of mapping data. And, every year, they're put on the state budget chopping block. This year, their operating budget was set to be cut in 1/2 (not sure what came of it).

If you use this service, and find it valuable (I surely do), write a letter to your local legislators and let them know they serve a public good. Your tax dollars are not all wasted as TV News anchors would have you believe during sweeps-ratings months. Keep these services, and many others free to all Minnesotans. Otherwise, we'll end up like WI grin.gif

That site looks like a good one but it isn't what I was thinking of. Our property in northern mn isnt on here. There is a big white patch that is white. There must not be any arial photos of that area. The one I was thinking of was a part of the mn.state HSOforum. You could search by counties.

Dang right! Email, phone call, letter.....anything would be great. Although it seems a bit late (budget has been set for some time now), I suppose better late than never. Especially considering that they're on the chopping block year after year.

To find out who to write, and who are the legislators in your district, use yet another fancy GIS application!!!:

District - Rep. Finder

The white stripes you're encountering will likely be a problem for the downloaded county data as well. These data are the same, just represented in a different way; web vs. download. GIS is what I do for a living, and from experience in other counties, these are most likely where the contractors flew errant flight paths and did not retrieve data from these locations. To the best of my knowledge, there is not a better explanation besides those areas with atmospheric interference. In fact, on the site, it mentions:

Quote:

Note: some parts of the state, primarily areas in Lake and Cook counties, could not be photographed due to poor weather conditions or other factors. See a list or map of the missing areas.

So it seems like areas photographed under poor conditions, like excessive cloud cover, haze, etc. were simply removed from the dataset.

Best I could tell you is that the state of MN paid photogrametric teams good money to fly these photos, and there better have been a stipulation in the contract to re-fly and photograph the flight lines that turned out poorly.

Otherwise, there's always the B&W photos.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
