when you find your wire just make sure that it is automotive wire- not building wire- they have different insulation characteristics, and also different strand counts. Building wire (the stuff you find at depot or menards) will have 7 strands and will be either THHN or XHHW insulation. You don't want this stuff- very ridgid and just not the right stuff for the job. Automotive wire will have many more strands and will be much easier to work with. Also the insulation is a bit different, but is similar to XHHW. (More of a rubber base).

You best bet is an automotive store.

I don't think I have ever seen automotive wire bigger than #10 at a building store.
