Binocs?

I'm looking to spend about $50 to $75 on a set of binocs to use bow hunting. In that price range, what brand/model do you gentlemen suggest I buy? Thank you for your advice.

FL, in that price range I'd look at TASCO and Nikon. Go to binoculars'dot'com - they have all you'll need. As far as power, I'd go for a 7X for all around use, with 35-50mm lens. Some folks prefer the 25mm tubes, but you'll not get near the light gathering capabilities.

U plan to spend only 75 on a binoc?! I know its pricey and hard to do but if u cant spend less than 200 bucks on a binoc dont waste the little money u got. these chepies even if they seem nice will fall apart after a season or two and the lenses might not be as clear sharp or light gathering as ur needs be. I had a 200 buck pair of binos. I lost em"!!!!!!!!! i was so mad. I cant afford to get new ones so im saving my money and in the meantime using just my eyeballs for spotting game. I can only shoot 30 yards anyways so as long as i pay attention, i know somting is coming down the trail even if i cant see it. its in my shooitng lane im ready at draw with my finger on the trigger ready to let her rip.

Don't know if you ever get by a Cabela's. They usually have some refurbs or returns in the Bargain Cave you can pick up for a reasonable price. I found some Pentax factory refurb compact binocs in the range you mentioned and they are pretty decent. I think they normally sold for 2x or 3x the price when new and could not tell the were used or repaired other than the sticker on the box. Heck, they came with everything; straps, soft case, lens covers, etc.

The best part is they work great with glasses, plenty of eye relief.

I am very happy with my Nikon Adventurer 10X50 binoc's. Cost about $100, a bit more than you mention, but I bet it'll be a long time before I buy another pair. They're nice and have a great warranty.

I know this may sound foolish to some and it seemed foolish to me at the time but after 2 pairs of $50-$70 binos that the lenses fell apart inside, I sprang for a $450 pair of Pentax. The best money ever spent. With optics it is very true you get what you pay for. I am not suggesting everyone spend $450 but do spend as much as you can and you will have a quality pair of binocs for a long time. I spent $130 on two pair that I have thrown away. I take care of my equipment but all it took was a bump climbing up or down to a tree stand. Should have bit the bullet to begin with.

I have the Pentax binoc's too. They are awesome but way above the price range specified in the first post.

Thanks you guys. I will try to stretch the purse strings a little more...sounds like the more a guy spends the better the quality you get (which is usually the case but not always).

I assume you can take a good look thru them at the store...that should help me decide how much I'm willing to spend.

Go to National Camera Exchange in Burnsville if you live in that area. They have a good selection and you can look out the window for a better idea of performance.
