I want to get a muzzleloader and dont have alot of money. I

am 13 and 5'1" so i want a light weight gun with low recoil.

I want it to be under 150 bucks and with a starter kit. Any ideas what i should get.

Several companies make a gun in your price range. Off hand, the CVA optima starter kit is around 150 bucks or less. Everything you need will be in this kit with the exception of powder and primers. You will need to purchase this to get started. This gun is pretty short and light which would appear to fit your stature very well. This is a magnum ML that can shoot up to 150 gr. of powder. However, there is no reason that you can't shoot with a reduced charge to tame the recoil. Be sure that you have your firearms certificate and training completed and adult supervision prior to getting started with tis. I would recommend getting a break action muzzleloader, There should be one or two that are in your price range, or maybe a few bucks more. I have the cheap in-line by CVA, and while it shoots and handles fine, having to deal with the in-line bolt is a pain, and not conducive to coming off of SAFE in time to make any kind of quick shot.

My brother got his muzleloader from Fleet Farm a couple years ago. The brand is Rossi Arms and it is a very small break open type muzzlelaoder. The nice thing about it is that you can buy different barrels for it and have a single shot rifle or shotgun. He got the .50 cal barrel and 20 gauge shotgon barrel for $190 I think. I have seen them with just the .50 cal barrel for $170. Other barrels I have seen for it are 410 shotgun, .17 hmr, 30-06, and .270. Overall I think it is a very nice gun for the money especially with the break open action and like I said above, it's pretty small so it might be something for you to look into.

I've had my Rossi 3 years, shot two deer with it. I'm not very knowledgable about them, but I was able to figure this one out, sight it in, & maintain it adequately to hunt with it just fine.

i bought 2 Traditions brand 89 dollar 50 cals 2 years ago. One for me and one for my dad for Christmas. They are short and light. I have shot a black bear and 2 does with it. I have no complaints. It is no Thompson Omega but it does the job. you can load 150 grains in it (100 is better for recoil) and it uses the shotgun primer. I lost a few parts over the course of a cleaning and Traditions sent me some at no charge. Not a bad gun for the money.

After doing a lot of research and help from some guys on this board I bought a CVA Kodiak for $179.99 at Sportsman Wharehouse. (Sorry Irvingdog) This is a realy lite gun that is suppose to be fairly accurate and esy to clean. One thing to watch out for on the cheaper guns is to tap on the butt stock. Some are hollow and make a lot of noise if you or something else hits it wrong. Spend a little extra and get the CVA kKodiak.

Hey Neiko does the cva kodiak include a starting kit or is it just the gun?

I priced out the kits when I was looking. Sportsman's Wharehouse had a kit they sold seperate from a gun. I think it was like 30 bucks. I ended up just buying the things i needed seperatly and it was cheaper. A brush, patches and cleaning fluid are really all you need. I never use the bullet pusher since most barrels are a little big at the bore and almost fall right it. None of the kits had powder, so you have to buy that anyway and then you get to pick the bullets you REALLY want, not that come in a kit.

Some places have them but SW did not have them together. They have the kits for $50 that included a video. I don't know much about ML so I want the video.
