NASCAR TV Coverage

So now that there's been a couple of weeks with NBC coverage, who do you think does a better job, FOX or NBC?

I like FOX's audio/video/camerawork better. Watching the Daytona race last week practically made me dizzy with their cameras zooming in and out and panning wildly, although it was better this week. Must have been first-week jitters.

Anybody know why Alan Bestwick isn't doing the play-by-play in the booth this year? I like him a little better than the other guy who took his place(can't remember his name right now) who's a little too dramatic. I don't miss Larry Mac's whiney voice and Jeff Hammond's lisp.

Fox beats these guys hands down. This may not be true but it seems that DW and Larry Mac seem to keep your interst longer. They get excited, Wally and Benny bla bla bla bla same voice.

I love when Larry says "His crewchief Michael Fatback McSwain" Just a good ring to it

Its Bill Weber. He and Bestwick changed jobs because supposedly NBC thought it would be better.

FOX is much better coverage. Benny gets too excited over nothing and not excited enough over big things. Dallanbach is just a putz. He never did anything in NASCAR...

Fox is clearly the choice at out house. They seem to do a much better job.

I hate that Boogity dump. It was neat for a race or two but its over done now. Along with that crank it up stuff. I do like Fox's better but I also like Benny Parsons. No wait, I liked it better when ESPN did it with Dr. Jerry Punch.

I really like the Fox coverage better than NBC... the thing that really gets annoying for me is when all Darrel Waltrip can talk about is how mikey's doing that day.. and how he's had tough luck.. etc..

Don't get me wrong... I like DW just as much as the next guy... but there are other people in the race besides the 15 car...

How about the endless Toyota plugs DW and Larry Mac throw in throughout the race! Those two talk about their truck teams every race!

I was really hoping to see NBC make major changes to their broadcast. B.P. shouldn't be in the booth, Wally the wash up has no business in there also.

Bestwick is a professional with great knowldge of the sport. He can stay.

I like the ESPN/TNN days too, but Fox really elevated the broadcasts from those days. Their announcers were great, but they didn't really make the technological investments to keep up with modern broadcasting. Dr. Jerry Punch is a great pit road guy, none better really. I even liked old Eli Gold doing the broadcasting...

Still, Fox and the boys have a lot of fun on their sports broadcasts and that's why I think they are enjoyable.

Fox all the way. More exciting, better coverage, more energy in the booth and on pit road. I for one like the "boogity" thing, but my wife is flat out sick of it. Fox definitely seems to have more fun on the air. They also describe things nicely and I really like the Fox cut-away car. I also think they have better post-race coverage...not bound by big TV shows and deadlines. NBC/TNT will cut their post-race coverage short so that they can air their other shows on time. Fox at least will interview the top 5 and other popular racers. I wish that Fox had Allan Bestwick. He would be a great addition. I like him a lot, but I don't much care for BP and walleye-eyed Wally.

I'm with basscatcher for the most part. With one exception, the boogity boogity boogity talk! "Let's go racin boys" is fine. Another thing that is annoying is DW's biased opinions on certain teams. I'd like to see Rusty up there as well as Bestwick. As far as NBC, Bill Weber is by far worse than Benny! I'm just thankful it isn't always on FX, or speedchannel. I get neither of them here, and won't get a dish, as the weather affects the reception.
