Springerguy1
The youth hunt is a great experience. I take my son back to ND so he can hunt with his grandfather. I've had many great hunts but the two best hunts I've experienced were the past two youth hunts. He ended up with his limit of ducks 2 yrs. ago and last year he brought home 5 ducks and 2 honkers. Pretty good for an 11 yr. old with a youth model 20. Another benefit of the youth hunt- I've been able to get access to land that's normally not hunted. The farmers seem very willing to let a young kid, his Dad and grandfather go out on a hunt. Never realized I could have so much enjoyment on a hunt when I don't even carry a gun. I'm anxious to experience the youth pheasant hunt in ND this year as well.
Tripleplay
I've got two of my kids legal for the first time this year and I called the MN DNR a couple of weeks ago since nothing was out on their HSOforum. According to the help line person I spoke to, it is tentatively scheduled for September 24th which would only be one week prior to opener. It won't be finalized until they actually print and release the waterfowl regulations supplement.Smack dab in the middle of fall soccer season for my kids, but missing one game won't be the end of the world as compared to their first chance to really go hunting!
