Bears in Area 46

Does anyone know what the bear population is in the Pierz area? A buddy of mine was thinking of trying bear hunting for the first time in that area. I tried telling him to go north but he doesn't have the time to put in for traveling to bait. He does have private land to hunt but doesn't know if there are any bear around.

I spend alot of time in Pierz and have never seen any bears, thats not say they are not there but just alittle farther north his luck could be a whole lot better.
