Curado Drag problem

I bought a new Shimano Curado from Capra's at the Sportshow. I had it out for the first time this weekend and the drag doesn't work. I tightened the drag down as hard as I could and it's still very easy to pull line out. As a matter of fact I couldn't even set the hook correctly on a 17" largemouth.

The reels only have two adjustment knobs. One for the drag and one for the brake. What gives?

If I return it are they going to give me a new spool of Power Pro or transfer my line to a new reel?

Did you tie backing to the power pro line if not it is most likely slipping on the spool

I'm with 250XB, what kind of line do you have on the reel. If you are using a braid, you have to use some kind of backing. I have never heard of a Curado with this problem?

I believe I used 30# Power Pro braid with a backing. The line is not slipping on the spool. I am not a rookie. I have read the instructions and thought maybe someone has had a similar problem.

Sounds like you know your reels. It must be defective, call them and/or return it.

Call them and ask. Maybe they can spool your line off the old one and put it on a new Curado for you?

Those reels are excellent and you must have a lemon...

Shimano has a great warrenty program.. They will take care of you!

It sounds as though your reel has a problem. If I had to guess, somehow some of the packing greese got on the break washers...
