I just spent my 3rd memorial day directing traffic at the Fort Snelling National Cemetary. It is great to see all the people that come out and pay tribute to loved ones and those who have sacraficed for our freedom. I also have to thank my wife for understanding why it is so important to me to give up my holiday weekend with her to help out at the cemetary.

Hope you all had a safe weekend.

ATM .. you should see if next year they can get some people directing traffic outside of the cemetary.. I was stuck for 40 minutes by 494 coming from the mall of america side.. I never got to pay my respects because I would have ran out of gas before I got there(only made it 3 vehicle lenghts in 40 minutes).

I will go this coming week. Thanks to all who have served, and who will serve in the future. My father was a veitnam and korea vet, my grandfather was a WWI, WW2, and either korea or nam... If we could only imagine what he had done for this country.

It was a beautiful Memorial Day that's for sure. First let me say your welcome to all who thank the Vets. I served in the USAF from 1947 to 1994. I would also add my thanks to those that are still serving proudly today! In the words of Lee Greenwood "I'll gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today, there ain't no doubt I love this land... God bless the USA!" I had that song sung at my retirement ceremony and to this day I can not sing it without getting choked up! Every day that a person spends in the military they are making sacrafices to defend the freedom and our flag. Display it proudly not only today but every day. Take care and N Joy the Hunt././James P. Duckslayer, where you ever stationed at Minot? Most of my ten years was either at Minot or Comiso, Siclily, with a little bit of time scattered in Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

Just wondering if we ever crossed paths?

Even a treehugger like me grin.gif understands that I can never repay the debt I owe for the sacrifices of the selfless men and women who have served. My father and his brothers all served in the military (one of his brothers went to Vietnam). My childhood best friend is in Iraq right now. Haven't been able to contact him but I hope all is well.

A HUGE THANKS to those who have served, those who are serving and to those who will serve from one who has served.

May it someday become un-necessary for any serviceman or woman to be put "in harms way".

Too many bright young souls have been lost but not in vain.

With the dedication and the selflessness of the American Soldier the bell of FREEDOM will always ring.

God bless.

MNfishinguy... I was never stationed at Minot, though I sure did try to get there. They did not have my AFSC there for most of my career. Would have been a great spot for hinting iand fishing. Also I always put in for Alaska and never got it either. I was at Comiso, TDY from Mt Vergine IT, building the Comm facilities for the "bed-down". I guess that would have been around '86.

Johnny, when they were evacuating Sigon I was in Florida where all those planes were landing as their final destination here in the states. We had to live in tents while all the "ladies" that were comming in got to live in the hotels. Hmmmm. Take care guys and N Joy the Hunt././Jimbo
