Anyone fish the Sioux Narrows area yet?

Recommended Posts

I was there last weekend. We stay at my parents' 5th wheel trailer in Snake Bay. We chased trout locally as well as walleyes locally. Things were slow for us and everyone we ran into. We ended up making a long trip north of there for walleyes and ended up catching enough to eat in 45+ feet of water. Goofy stuff. Anyway, we fished hard, but don't have much to report. The trout action was in shallow water (around 30').

I'll be wetting a trout line this weekend in Whitefish Bay. I've been doing a fair bit of walleye fishing, and most walleyes are coming from deep. I have had decent luck with a bottom bouncer and a crawler in the 26-30' range. Have heard other reports of 35-45' with jig and minnow.

Just got back from a week at the Narrows, walleye's were 45 feet in yellow girl, lots of them, jig and a minnow, trout were 45 feet and up, weather changed every day, sometimes more than once. Northerns were hard to find in whitefish.

I was out for walleyes in Yellowgirl, and we found them in between 32 and 40'. Spinner and a leech worked for us. They were abundant.

Lake trout were a little skiddish. Weather was definately up and down for the weekend.

Anyone fish the Deadbroke/Cliff Island area yet? We usually fish around that area and also Bath, Mouse, and Whiteout Island. I will be up there in 2 weeks from today, anyone think the fish will be coming up from the 40' depth and more into the high teens and twentys? Are you guys hitting the eyes on reefs in that depth or what?

Redline, we fished in that area on Saturday. Most eyes were 32 fow. Give or take 6'. Mostly shorelines/points and we also found a few better spots within large bays.

I'm sure they are on their way up right now from the depths. Two weeks ago, 45' was the ticket, and last weekend, 32' was working best. You fish in some of my favorite walleye waters.

I've been fishing that area for 12 years, and I'm only 22, so half about half my life. My moms side of the family, all the fathers and sons on my Grandmas side go. We have been staying at Whitebirch Lodge the hole time I have been going. It is my favorite time of the year, the area is just so beautiful. You are a lucky guy to live so close to that area. I remember one year, maybe 10 years ago we were fishing Mouse Island, and you couldn't get your line to the bottom before you already had another Wally on! Another question, we usually always start fishing in that little bay on cliff that is in the Deadbroke Channel in this pic. Right above the I in Island on Cliff Island. c3.jpg Have you been to that spot before? If so, have you this year, and has it been loaded with guide boats? That spot has always been good for us. You can go around in that little bay, hit the point or for the big ones, go on that outside wall that drops to 30' fast, but it's really easy to snag out there. Man I can't wait!

It'll be loaded with boats, now that you've posted your hotspot on the WORLD WIDE WEB grin.gif Just kidding. The whole area, and most of the lake for that matter has spots like the one you are referring to. I have not fished that exact bay/spot, but have spots all around that. We were south of that area by a mile or two last weekend. Not too many boats out. Saw a couple White Birch cruise by us on Saturday.
