Roosterslayer05
Me and 3 other guys got 7 doves on opener. We missed plenty and had a great time. I dident get a chance to shoot anymore because i hunted geese the next two days and by the time pheasent opened they were all gone.
Sky Carp Blaster
I went out by myself opening day and took my little brother the second day of the season. I think I have 8 in the freezer. Went to a spot about 5 minutes from home, just west of Rogers. There was a large harvested oats field that a ton of doves were using. I got lots of shooting and had a great time. They're pretty hard to hit and I was surprised by how tough some of them were to kill.
Redwalleye
It was a great time. Shot em up in minnesota and North Dakota while honker shootin in wheat. Kept an extra box of 7 steels in the blind. some times shot more doves than honkers. Plannin on this year too. Dove opener is a holliday in Texas, and i was glad to see that we finally got a season. USPENAMC
sure is a holiday in texas I remember we used to just go out of our house and go to any field we wanted and start hunting the owners usually drove by and just asked us to make sure we picked up after ourselves and that was it. we went to the same spot every year and the owner already knew us we could fill our 10 doves each in a couple of hours after that we would shoot all the crows we could since it was legal to shoot crows in texas theyre not protected and the farmer liked when we did it. we only hunted the whitewing, dove special season. which is only 2 weekends that would be 40 birds myself 40 for 3 other hunters thats a great cookout. we would go out to this place (hunting starts at noon in texas for dove) start the grill we would set up and start shooting. of course we would also pick up the crows and put them in plastic bags and dispose of them. I have to do some research on where to go here in minnesota I guess ill head towards Gaylord Mn i saw a promising place out there.
renny
It was great! Some of best fun I ever had, there were doves every where. We just sat in some switch grass near some water, and they just kept flying in for hours. I have some land in CREP program and nine potholes of water, in southern mn. It was a great way to polish up on shooting, especially for the kids. They at least get a chance to shoot many more times than pheasent hunting and bunch of adults with quicker trigger fingers. We shot up two or three boxes the first day, and found out how rusty we were. but we did manage to bag some birds. they were alot harder to hit than we thought. can't wait to do it again. riverrat56
It was great, I'm hooked, I shot probally 20 or so this year, 9 one night, 4 another and random ones while duck and pheasent hunting. Its a great time, set up on a lawn chair with a few boxes of 8 shot next to me and start blasting away as the fly. They are harder to hit than anything I've ever seen, I got burned so many times, its aweasome though....I going out on the dove opener this year for sure....Maybe that should be the next countdown?
