Ray Esboldt
I have a chance to hunt 12,000 some acres of Western Nebraska near Alliance this fall. The landowner says there's pheasants, and I'm sure there are. Numbers of pheasants, I haven't a clue. Has anyone hunted this region? Are there any quail? Are there any sharptails? How about waterfowl? Thanks in advance. I wouldn't think of asking this question anywhere but here. FM has some of the most world wise outdoorsmen and women I've ever encountered. setterguy
I would imagine that there would be some bobwhites hanging around there, and I wouldn't be surprised if you saw some prarie chickens along with the ditch parrots. I don't know about the sharptails down there, anyway sounds like a great trip. I will be expecting my invitation shortly.......
gspman
Alliance is in or near the Nebraska Sandhills which is supposed to be a good hunting area. Like setterguy said there should be quail, and pheasant as well as waterfowl and prairie grouse. Do some research on Google.
Ray Esboldt
Thanks, guys. I did do some research on the Web, but honestly didn't find much. Hunting was kind of mentioned in passing in everything I found. Nothing real specific. Maybe it's that good that a limit of roosters doesn't even raise an eyebrow. BDR
Ray the Nebraska state site has pretty decent forum for their local info. I have had many questions answered there for trips to the east side of the state.I believe the area your talking about has a good antelope population. Ray Esboldt
Thanks, Brian. Antelope just don't flush very well. That's kind of what I'm reluctant about. If it's high plains and prarie, I'm not sure it's worth a 10 hour drive. I'll keep searching for information. That's part of the fun.
