Minn kota battery charger

I've got a Minnkota 3 bank on board charging system that I am having a problem with. It is only charging on one bank, which happens to be the bank for the main engine. The other two banks are for my trolling motors and I am having problems with it. The indicator lights aren't coming on and the batteries aren't being charged. I have done a circuit test from the wires coming out of the charger all the way to the batteries and from that point it is fine. My question I guess is if two of the banks have gone bad, why is 1 still working? I would think that if one went bad they would all quit working. Everything was working fine until I unplugged it to vacuum the boat out. I plugged it back in after vacumming and thats when I noticed my problem. I was able to get the indicator lights to come on for a short time and then they stopped. I was thinking it was a ground problem, but not sure where to look.

Hmmm.....I also had a 3 bank from Cabela's Pro Mariner and also had this problem. First charge all OK. And then after that it never was able to charge any of my banks. I could not figure it out and the circuit was all good. So I returned it and got a MinnKota 2 bank instead. Let me know if you figure it out or if someone is able to let us know the problem.

Yeah our 3-bank charger in our boat is kind of bad too.

We have 2 banks that work and one that doesn't now. The one that doesn't is the battery for the motor and the dash so its no big deal.

Our is a MinnKota also and the warranty is done on it so we just leave it alone. As long as the Trolling motor batteries are being charged...no big deal.

The first step in this case is to change the leads to the battery. If one of the other banks lights up when you fire up the charger then the issue is the battery not taking a charge and not the charger itself. An onboard charger will not charge a 100% dead or bad battery. If you change the leads and only the same bank is charging once again, then the charger is the problem.

first off are you running a 24 volt system for the trolling motor? just a thought because i accually hooked mine up wrong the first time. i was only running one lead to the two batteries thinking it would charge both. you know cause there in a series (made sense in my mind at the time)but you have to have a lead going to each batt. i don't know if this helps.

hopefully my screwup will prevent headache for others.
