ChuckN
I, along with Tom, have been searching high and low for lodging/camping possibilities for this event. Besides the Cross Lake Corp of Engineer campground (can't have more than 1 truck and 1 boat, and some other reasons to not stay there) there is an option for all of us to camp at the Fifty Lakes Campground which is 7 miles from the town of Cross Lake. I have spoken to the owner of FFC and so far I have temporarily reserved the last 7 campsites available for us, and we can double up campsites if we run out of space. These sites include water and electric. We have until Monday, April 25th to give me an answer to them and send in a $20 deposit. Camping is $20 per night and I am holding for 2 nights, Friday and Saturday nights, June 3-4th. Check out is 2pm but they are willing to extend time for us to return after the event to pack-up, if they do not have any bookings on Sunday. Please get ahold of me and let me know if you are interested. Then we can send in a deposit to them.[email protected]
Deitz Dittrich
chuck.. I would say count me in for 1 of the stalls... send the $20 to you? I would probably only need saturday night?.. wasn't planning on doing 2 nights?
GullGuide
Yes, do it for sure. We can decide later which access to use, but I would say our closest and best choice would be the one on the South end of Cross. The Big Trout access would be closer, but it is limited and can be a pain.
GullGuide
Dietz...what no prefishing?...lol. That's ok bud, if you can't do 2 nights, I'll have to find all the fish for ya..lol.

ChuckN
Just let me know how many nights you would like, I just held for 2 nights. In order to keep it straight for the campground, send $20 to me and I'll try to keep it all in order. Throw me an email for my mailing address.Everyone signed up for this event should have received an email from me also.
GullGuide
WHAT WAS I THINKING?!?!?! LOL Yea, major brainfartage there. I feel so stooooopid!!! Chuck...RESERVE 1 SPOT FOR D AND I FOR SATURDAY NIGHT...LOL.
Matt Johnson
Remember Deitz, you're going to have to weigh-in more than just bass to win ...you know, those other species, like walleyes, pike, panfish... Good Fishin, Matt Johnson
GullGuide
But if the bass all average 6.5 lbs each.......
ChuckN
Matt, don't clue him into the strategy!! 6.5lbs each. LMAO!!! I think I know your strategy bub but come on....
GullGuide
Seriously.... Last year the largest largemouth bass in the tourney Toad and I fish weighed over 7lbs. An average bag of 5lb largemouth is not out of the question on the chain, and since this is me and Deitz we are talking about here, 6.5 is pretty realistic LOL
Deitz Dittrich
I'll have 6.5 lbs of bass.. just not all in one!>. lmao!Matt- could you make a print out of what the other fish look like that we are allowed to catch.. that way if I catch one by accident I can put it in the livewell.. Matt Johnson
LOL I just plan on placing by bringing in panfish I was just laying out the options for you ... I hope we see some 6 pound-plus largies caught, I don't even care if I'm the one who catches them (but, I wouldn't complain if Brian caught a few piggies). I've never fished the chain and I've heard a lot of good things about it, should be a lot of fun! Good Fishin, Matt Johnson
BDR
I would be very content losing to a limit of 6.5#ers. Some of those "accident" fish lead to some of the beast times I've had fishing last year. It was fun bieng able to just go with it, small adjustments and add to the catch. Hog Walleyes on spinnerbaits anybody? The Chain is full of options for a Multi event. I like this choice alot. With this much water to think about it would be nice to nail down an access soon. It will play a big part into the strategy planning of a day and where is it worth running to. Deitz Dittrich
BDR buy a bigger moter and you can run where ever you want in no time.. I saw a 300 hp on the back of a champ in gander mtn... I would think at 80+ mph you can get from one end to the other in no time?
BDR
You mean my 15 hp isn't going to cut it. I'll just have to get MJ a new paddle.
Borch
Put me down for Saturday night. Prefishing? That's for amatuers. Real fisherman just Know where they'll be. BTW, If we're allowing Deitz to weigh bass, how many carp can I weigh? They're practicly the same thing. Right?
GullGuide
Brian,The access has been nailed down. It will be the one on the south end of Cross Lake. They expanded it last year and there is a good sized overflow lot now. It is the closest, best access. It's a little tricky to find, but we'll get directions soon. It's also on the "Recreation Finder" option on the DNR HSOforum.

ChuckN
There was a slight miscommunication with the campground. There is a minimum of 2 night stay for reserving a site on a weekend. I have reserved 4 teams for 2 nights. (Myself, Matt/BDR, Ron/Steve, Paul/Kevin). There are 3 sites left for us to reserve for Friday and Saturday nights. If some teams are 100% against staying 2 nights, you may be out of luck for availability. I am trying to work with the owners to let us double up if necessary for Saturday nights, but it will still cost just about the same if you rent a full site, $18 EXTRA for 4 guys per site with 2 tents, for a total of $38. I haven't received full word on it yet. I apologize for the mishap.
GullGuide
Chuck,So that's $18 a night?See if there is another team that we can double up with that is staying both nights. I would take one if worse came to worse, but hate having to drive up separate.See what you can do....T
Deitz Dittrich
Thats bush league.. have to stay 2 nights?... Whats up with that? Whats the plan Gully? What we gonna do? Chuck.. is it $20 per spot or $20 per person per night?
GullGuide
Deitz,I'ts up to you. I'm game for going up Friday night after work. So whatever is fine with me. I think it's per site not per person.....Chuck?
