Well I finialy did it, I shot a 100 straight on Tuesday at Crow river gun club for my work league and then backed it up with a staight 50 out at Beaverbrook.

It was my day to dust'em that's for sure.I might have been able to shoot more but I didn't know they would let me shoot till I missed at Crow river.

I hold a 24 average at both clubs now, man I like that old $145 Winchester Super X Model 1 with a full trap barrel.

Now I have to back it up again next Tuesday!!!

Man was it windy Tuesday night, was nice that the cool air came in before we got to the line though.

Shot a 23 and a 24 in that wind, clay would come out and climb fast.

Some times it would hop a few times before it apexed.

The AR15 legue is going now, kind of wish I would have got into that as well.

Well last week I got my best score ever with my Benille Nova. I got a 23 out of 25. I was so happy. but we had some Jackass (sorry about my words) always saying "pull" after I said "pull" so I think thats one reason why I lossed to birds. This guy was in the trailer park by the gun club. This week I hope I get a 25 out of 25. I am getting so good. Also the elmers at the club who help me are very proud of me. That this weeks update.

Consentration is key, if some thing get's in your mind you will think about it rather than the big slow orange saucer.

I prepare my self before each clay by saying just that.

"It is a big, slow, orange saucer, slow down, wait for the traget,Pull the trigger, follow through"

I also make sure the gun seats the same, and alignes with the stake out in front of the trap house when in the center stations and just a little right or left of the house on the respective sides.

Then I watch for the bird just a little above the house with the barrel still on the stake, never on the top of the house.

If you watch the top of that house the bird comes out so fast most people can never catch it.

Never try to rush the shot, a few seconds is like a minute when your mind is focused.

As for the load mouth next to the club, just think of him as a fellow shooter over on the next house.Don't think about it, just focus on your shot, your big ,slow ,orange saucer!!

I shot Tuesday night also. It was windy here too. I missed the first target out because of a slow pull! Should of never shot at it. It was 1 1/2 seconds late. Then ran the rest. The next round I got a 23. The targets really danced in the wind. Going to give it a shot tonite if the weather holds out!!

How did the night go?

We has a down pour right in the middle of our turn at the house.

Still shot a 24 with rain drops clowding the glasses, felt like I was in the duck blind.

We could have waited the rain out, but we all decided to keep shooting.Felt sorry for the trap puller, but she had got down under the trap pullers stand so she was some what protected from the rain.

The AR shooters were blasting away again, some of them are using AR10's as they sure had a bark.

shot like dump! confused.gif Used some other shells on the first round (wont say the horrible score(. then shot a 22 & 21! I think I'm going to try something a little different. going to hold the gun a little higher. seems like the targets are easier to pick up!!

Thanks, I agree with your thought to hold higher.I hold the barrel about a foot or so above the house, and I look past it to see the bird rise out.

If you put the barrel right at the top of the house and then watch down the barrel for the clay, your setting your self up for a catch up swing.

I try to let the bird come to me not chase it down, it also helps to change the angle your feet face the house as you move around to each station.

Try to angle your self such the it is a comfortable swing or your goint to bind up in the back bone trying to catch a fast right or lefty.

I do the foot thing already!! The last round I shot I was goofing around and took my time before following the target. There is more then enough time to catch them so I dont rush the shot. At the end of the round I held the gun higher and focused where the target should show up. Seemed like they were moving slower and less swinging of the gun I'll try holding it a foot next time. I've been shooting for two years and havent had a 25 since September frown.gif I know tuesday night my mind wasn't focused on the targets. had alot of things on my mind confused.gif. I'm making my kid shoot with the full choke for percision shooting. Hope I get another 25 before she gets her first!! DUST THEM ALL!!!

Just got back from Canada fishinng, I see I have missed some clay talk! I did sneak out this morning and shoot a 25, that was really fun. I hold my bead just below the top edge of the house. it seems to work well for me.

Cowdy dog, how was lac suel?

I finialy found my map, it was on the top flap of my tackle box.Imagin that, looked all over for it too.Found it while fishing at Mille lacs this past weekend.

My uncles slammed the big boys again, they found them over along the huge sand bank where that catapeler was on for a while.

Also found them up at Bananatine point as well.

These are the 26 to 27 inchers that are pure gold on the sides.I only hit them once on the second year I went, they fight like the devil has thier tails.

We had terrible weather. Cold, windy, and rainy every day. Still, we caught a lot of fish. We didnt get in the upper 20's that much but a ton between 20 and 26. The lake temps dropped anywhere from 12-16 degrees during our 5 day stay. Brrrr. But it was still good. Confirmed for me that Lac Seul is in fact the best walleye lake in the world. Most lakes would have shut down completely. We caught fish consistently.

Did the catepillar fall in? We never tried that spot and I forgot to look for it as we drove by. I havent fished that spot in a couple of years. Yeah, the colors are just fantastic. Got into the smallies a little bit, that was fun.

Cody, sounds like you had fun.Last year the cat was at the edge of the water, it had slid down from the middle over the last 4 years or so.

One of the old timer indians said it was his, he had to leave it there over the summer one year and it wouldn't start after that.So he left it there for a referance as to the erosian of the bank.He said it was there for over 20 years now.

I sot a 25 and a 23 as well tonight, we had to shoot ahead for the 5th of July so we were at the 20 yard line for the 23.I should have had a 24 but the bird just didn't chip out, lots of dust flew off it though.

The other miss just plain got away from me, don't know why I didn't let it go and pul another.

Well that's still good shooting, it was one nice night to be out there.

I shot a straight 50 out at Crow River for my work league, then went to Beaverbrook where we had to move back to the 20 yard line now for the rest of our season.

Shot a pair of 24's there.Just couldn't hang on to one bird on a fast left side throw.

I am now 10th out of 215 shooters at Beaverbrook, there are some great shooters ahead of me so it is a real honer to be up there with them.

Keep on doing what your doing now, it sounds like you have it down just need more time on the range get the consentration down.

Beaverbrook is North of Blaine off Central ave (hwy 65) up in Ham Lake.

Take why 65 North top Klondike drive go East about a mile and a halff and its on the left side.

They are open to the public on Sunday afternoons for Trap and I think skeet.

On Wesnday nights you could slide in there and shoot a "practic" round as a non member and no one would know the differance.

They have an archery range and a 100 yard rifle range as well as a 50yard pistol range.

I bet it causes a problem for everyone who doesn't take time to pattern a shotgun.

My friend was reloading his loads so hot he was blowing the pattern out so bad you could sit 3 clays on a 40 inch circle and not a pellet would have hit them.

He then loaded some why down on powder, it was hard to find any pellets out side the ring then.

But he had problems with getting a lot of dust but no chips.

I have been shoting the Federal Top Gun 8's and 7-1/2's this year with a 30 inch full trap choke barrel.

It's working for me, and the patern didn't have any one spot large enogh to allow a clay to get by.

I used to shoot a 28 inch modified barrel, that was fair on the patern board but had a few spots where the clay could get through.

I have patterned mine and it is pretty good. I guess I am wondering, even on a good one, how often does that get you? The last bird I missed, should have broke. I am ringing that up to a hole in the pattern, cuz I wouldnt know what I did wrong. Most of the time when I miss, I know why.

Say you took a gun and put it in a vice and shot it 10,000 times at a clay, how often would the clay not break?

I Love the hard rights! I shoot Improved mod 1 oz 7 1/2s. 8s left big holes in my pattern. Take Benny's advice to be comfortable with your stance with less twisting! I find if I stay ahead and a little low on those targets I crush them. I beleive its easier to hit if your are a head then behind them. I need to work on my choking blush.gif on the easy straight aways!! Nice job still good shooting there!! Just my worthless $.02 worth!
