Who's turn in the #6??

Recommended Posts

Jr in a RCR #3 car would be kinda neat.

completely agree about the shoe filling.

although as of late, the RCR and DEI teams have been struggling, with some signs of improvement. i guess it take time before they are a threat every week.

can hardly wait...

REALLY??? I can't believe Mikey will get much of any ride if he doesn't do something big this year. He's had his glory in the plate races back when DEI was head and shoulders better than anyone else, but he's done NOTHING since and still has never won but on a plate track. I think he'll be without a ride in Cup next year (but then again, the sponsors like him yapping all the time the way he does...).

McMurray to drive No. 6 for Roush Racing in '07

Jamie McMurray has signed a multi-year contract to drive Roush Racing's No. 6 Fords starting in 2007, sources close to the driver confirmed Thursday morning.

Roush Racing is expected to release a statement on the matter Thursday afternoon.

Chip Ganassi Racing released a statement Thursday morning saying that the team and McMurray would part ways following the 2006 season.

"Jamie's made a decision to go in another direction after we've both fulfilled the commitment that we made to each other in 2002," team owner Chip Ganassi said in the statement.

"We didn't do a good job of conveying to Jamie where this team is headed, but we expect a lot of success with Jamie the rest of this year and next year, and we wish him the best in his future endeavors beyond that."

Inside the Numbers

Jamie McMurray's career stats

Year Races W T-5 T-10

2005 17 0 4 7

2004 36 0 9 23

2003 36 0 5 13

2002 6 1 1 2

Totals 95 1 19 45

Sources said McMurray signed the contract with Roush Racing late last week, and speculation began almost immediately that he was on his way out at Ganassi.

No word has been given regarding an interim driver for 2006, but many feel Roush Racing Truck Series driver Ricky Craven is the team's first choice.

McMurray is currently in his third Nextel Cup Series season, all with Ganassi. His lone victory came at Lowe's Motor Speedway in October 2002 while substituting for injured teammate Sterling Marlin.

McMurray currently ranks seventh in the 2005 championship point standings.

So SILLY SEASON 2007 has already started huh??? Good grief, could this be any more of a bizarre announcement? How can they expect 2006 to be anything with McMurray at Ganassi? I'd give serious odds he's out of that car by mid season next year. And what happens to the six next year? Craven gets a one season ride or what, its not like they could find other top notch people who'd really be interested in a one year and you are done job (albeit with a top notch team).

This is just too wierd.

Good signing by Rousch though, the kid has some pretty good potential I think.

That is a good question. I have been pondering that myself.

Maybe Jack uses the #6 for owners points and as a test car for the new 2006 bodies?

Jack could use Craven, Kluever (for 7 races), Martin (he said not fulltime in Cup) and Jon Wood is still under contract with Roush (7 more races)

Martin said he'll race the All-Star, the two road course would be a no brainer, he loves Lowe's & Michigan

Maybe Martin runs all Cup races that are shared with the Trucks? Who knows, should be interesting. I'm sure the questions will be flying around Jack this weekend.

I bet Ward Burton would take that ride for ONE year!!!

Good point, I bet Ward would love to get in the #6!!

Wood would be an interesting pick, he's been inconsistent in Busch.

Just for giggles... what if the driver of the #6 won the championship in the #6... wouldn't that create a stir!! crazy.gif

We have met before but I do'nt think he would remember me.

When I first got into floor covering he would ride around with his dad and come to the different house's that we where doing. But that's a good 15 years ago. I live close to the shop that they work out of. My son really likes to drive by there and see the haulers.

I really think this sucks. Mark wants to retire and does a year long "going out of business" promotion and then gets drug back into next year. Rousch claims he wasn't trying to steal McMurray, but I'm sure he planned on him being in that car next year when he signed him and when it didn't work, now that he's screwed, he guilted Martin into doing this out of loyalty to Rousch. That just stinks to me.
