archery target

Recommended Posts

I use a Arrow Brake II, which is a pillow type target. It will stop carbon arrows with field tips at 20 yards with bow set at 70 pounds.A little kid could pull the arrows out of the target, its that easy,no arrow lube needed.Myself and two friends have shot alot of arrows in the last three years at it, and it still looks very good.IMO its a great target for hard to pull carbon arrows and like i mentioned before,no arrow lube. One more thing, dont use broadheads on this target,or you will be buying another shortly.

arrow brake is a great all around all weather target, and the easiest pull-out (we've got an arrow brake wall system in the range here) if you want to do broadheads, then the new block pro or morrell yellow jacket.

my thoughts...

For just fieldpoints I use an old seed bag/burlap bag and fill it with old shirts, tee shirts, rags, etc. I fill it full and draw some dots on the outside of the bag. As long as I keep it dry it will last thousands of shots. I've been doing it this way for over 10 years. I hang it in front of a couple of old semi trailer mud flaps that I have on a custom built rack. If I mangage to actually miss the bag those thick mudflaps stop the arrow with no problem. For broadheads I have a cheap 3D target and also one of those cheaper 3 to 4 inch thick foam targets. They only seem to last so long though.

I have a block that I have had for a couple years now and it has help up pretty good even to my broadhead shots. The only complaint i have with it is that if you hit the very edge of the target the metal holding the layers together will break. I also like to have and actual 3D target to give me an idea of depth for when I am shooting at a real deer.
