Problem with Lowrance H2O and Navionics hotmaps premium north

I down loaded a software update for this unit. 1.3 then i tried using my navionics north premium chip and it would not read the card. I called lowrance right away. they had to do some checking and called me back. they called back in a matter of minutes and told me that there is a code problem with the new update. the new update 1.3 came out on 3-8-2005. they told me that i was the first one to call about this problem.they e-mailed me the previous software version. so if anyone has downloaded this version already, be aware of this problem. they will get a new update out as soon as they have diagnosed the problem and make the update. I have to give them credit they were very helpful and quick in helping me out.

you need a mmc/sd card reader, and a sd or mmc card. the h20 accepts either sd or mmc. just hook it up via usb port and download. then stick the card in your h20 and turn it on. it will automatically load the program. I picked my card reader/writer up at a local electronics superstore pretty cheap.

I called Lowance today. I was told I would receive the older version by e-mail. Later in the day when I checked my mail had another message from lowrance telling me I could download the new 1.4.0 version update. By the end of the day navionics has put the H2O 1.4.0 update on their HSOforum.

I also installed the 1.3 upgrade and for some reason, I now can't get a location fix at all. I guess I'll be loading the 1.4 update tonight...

My H2O is still running on ver. 1.2 and I don't have any of the equiptment to load the new software. Whats better on the new versions and is it worth the trouble or should I stick with the older version for now? HTB

I installed 1.4 last night and now my unit is back to working perfectly. The Lowrance site says the update is supposed to offer:

-Increased support of Navionics® GOLD charts

-Minor power modification

-Includes all features from previous updates, including:

--Enhanced support for more electronic charts features

--Modified the "Distance to your destination" feature for smaller units (i.e. feet, meters)

--Minor modifications
