T/C Encore Pistol

Need some info on recoil from a 25-06 from this pistol. Will it kick like hell or will it be managable? What is the range? Is it allowed in southern MN?

The recoil will be there but not as much as you think, I have shot the T/C in a .308 and it was managable. just make sure to have a solid rest or steady sticks. if you have a scope on top its hard to keep the sights still with that pistol shooting off hand.

as my name implies, I used to have a Lone Eagle in 7mm-08. Although the ergonomics are different than the T/C, it was easy to handle and extremely fun to shoot. Make sure to get a muzzle brake on it and wear ear protection (this is mandatory with hand-cannons). It will ring your bells otherwise.

As far as legality in Southern MN, they are a legal caliber for anything you want to shoot. Even deer. Just keep in mind the extended range over a shotgun and know what's beyond your target within 3-5 miles.

Thanks, guys. Just came back from Gander Mountain and the guy there said the 25-06 is a wrist buster. Might reconsider and go either 243 or 7MM-08.

I have shot many Thompsons and Remington Custom Xp's,

but I started out with the earlier Remington pistol the XP 100. It was built on Remington's 600 action and they designed the grip to be mid-center of the stock. This design, results in a comfortable "rocking" of the gun in

the shooter's hand. It also results in less felt recoil.

They made them back in the 80's, in two calibers 223 and

7mmBR. Sadly, they only have the XP from the Custom Shop

and those guns have moved the grip to the rear of the gun!! Savage Strikers have a more forward mounted grip. It is

not as forwardly located, but I can handle mine

in 308 just fine (mine is sans a muzzlebrake too) The new models of Savage Strikers have intergrated scope mounts,

adjustable triggers and muzzlebrakes. These are just a couple things I have noticed is all. I am not slamming

the boys at TC, as they make a fine product. Do you reload?? If so, you could get your practice in using a reduced load, then step up to some beefed up loads for the hunting thing.

I shoot both a 44 mag with stout loads and a 7-30 waters in the TC and find them managable. The ? is what do you consider heavy recoil in a handgan. I don't know if you are already shooting handguns or not but if not start with somthing with light recoil so you don't develop bad habbits because of recoil and work your way up. There are a lot of cal. offered for the encore now,look in tc's costom shop sec. also. You may find somthing with lighter recoil that perforums as while as the 25-06 in that short of barrle.

I have a Encore in the .308 cal and the bark is worse than the bite! The thing about the Encore is once you have the frame you're options are endless.Handgun,rifle,blackpowder or shotgun as long as you are willing to purchase other stocks and fore-ends.I just set mine up with the 50 cal. muzzleloader barrel and it's a tack driver.

Also for those of you who shoot T/C Encores or other comparable handguns,what kind of groups can you shoot at given yardages.Just curious!!
