Question

Gentlemen I would appreicate your opinions I have made the decision to upgrade my flasher for ice fishing my question to you is what angle works best or is your favorite one, I normally am fishing for crappies in 12 to 30 feet. limited walleye fishing. I've made the decision to buy an fl-18 [sorry marcum users but still want your opinion]I don't see a need for 3 different transducers unless it is really necessary. just for your info I'm upgrade from an old green box I know it's a huge upgrade cool.gif p.s. I've already read the info on vexilars web site but still can't decide, field experince will be a better judge anyway. thanks, mark

If you've settled on the FL18, order it with the 9/19 degree dual beam transducer.

I have one on mine, and love it. Best of both worlds, really.

The 9 degree is good in deeper water, but sometimes the 19 is also good when deep, as you have a bigger cone and can see the fish a bit sooner.

The 9 is also good on sharp breaks, as the dead zone on the deep side of the break will be smaller that with the 19.

Overall, I find I use the 19 degree the majority of the time.

I have the FL18 with the dual 9/19 transducer, and for the few extra bucks, its worth it. If I was getting a single beam, it would be the 19. Most stores will only sell the FL18 with the 12degree and you have to pay extra to get the other one, but since you live in the cities, you can go straight to the Vexilar service center and buy exactly what you want. Good people to deal with.
