Fish Head
I ‘m toying with the idea of picking up a new filet knife. I have been using the same basic Rapala filet knife for at least 20 years. Anyone have a suggestion for a good quality filet knife without spending a lot of $$$?
0 upnorth
If it has served you well for 20 years why change now? I have what is probably the same knife and it still fillets a fish nicely so why put it out to pasture?
0 Dry_Fly
I've been using the same filet knife for more than 20 years also don't think I would change it know. Have to say I used a elec. filet knife for the first time this year and I was impressed to say the least. I just purchased a Rapala cordless for making my first cut than I use my filet knife after that works really great. Guess old dogs like new toys also just takes us a shove now and than to try something new. If the old knife works great why fix it but I think you would like the new elec. filet knifes also. 0 iffwalleyes
The best regular fillet knife I have ever used is the leech lake fillet knifes. They are way nicer than a standard fillet knife. You can find these at Reeds Sporting Goods. If you have interest in a electric knife the Rapala line of electric knifes are great. I have a electric Rapala that I have used allot for the last 3 years and have never had any problems with it. I used two knifes all the time my leech and electric Rapala. 0 Fish Head
Actually my old rapala still works fine. It's the old leather case smells foul, so it got me thinking about replacing the old knife. Always looking for a new toy I guess. Maybe I will just use some bleach water solution to clean the case and keep the old knife.
