koWALLEYEski
I heard theres a fishing derby close to the end of the fishing season. I have never been to Jamestown before, is it like a lake or a res or something? Any info would be awesome.
iffwalleyes
There is usually a local derby on Jamestown Res. I am not sure when it is though. You have both the Jamestown Res. which is on James River and the Pipestem Res I not sure which river it is on. If you take HWY 281 N of Jamestown the Jamestown Res is on the east and Pipestem will be on the west the access are all well mark. I fish Jamestown Res. often in the winter and have had great luck with walleyes this winter. I fish mainly the north end of the lake around Smokies Landing but have had luck on the south end as well. You also have the Pipestem Res. which can be really good for crappies. I have never fished on Pipe since I am mainly a walleye fisherman so I stick to Jamestown. If you have ever fished on Lake of The Woods used the same presentation on Jamestown and you should have luck. Jamestown is more of a night bite lake with the bite starting around 5:00 p.m. You can sometimes catch fish during the day but for the most part it will just be in the evening run. Scoot
Ed,My bro fished tonight out there and scraped on fish in three hours of trying. Sounded like a few others struggled there too.
iffwalleyes
It has been kind of hit and miss the past few weeks. Some nights you will hit a dozen or more and others maybe just a couple. I have been doing best as of late from about 5-7 pm. With the best time around 6. The old chubby darter Glow orange has been pretty good all winter out there. Ed Carlson
Have you been using the Salmo Chubby Darter CD-5 or the CD-6 in the LOD pattern?I think the bite has slowed a bit all over in the past week or so? Maybe this new moon phase will stir up a bite again..hope so.I am off Mon-Tues so I may wonder over that way for an evening and see how it looks. I have a bum foot that is bug'n me so it it lets me go out I just may. Thanks for the reports guys!
iffwalleyes
I have been using the smallest one I think it is the CD4. My deadsticks have been doing good on plain red circle hooks.
