Walleye rod/reel set up for jigging

I would spend the majority of the $80 on $50 1 piece rod like Cabelas Pro-guide or something in the similar price range. I'd take $10 and get some 6# or 8# Fireline. Fireline can make your rod worth about $20 more with the added sensitiviy. I would finally take what's leftover and find a reel with anti-reverse and a reasonably smooth drag.

Maybe a Shakespere, cheap price but they will get the job done.

Cabelas also has a section on their HSOforum with pre-matched combos and that is an excellent way to save money as well.

This would be just my opinion, but I think alot has to do with just getting out and fishing also. Of course I think the rod and reel has alot to do with it, but I have been fishing for 25yrs and it just takes time to feel those bites!! I have never spent more than $50 or $60 on a rod and reel together and have plenty of luck with what I use. As I said before this is just my opinion!!! grin.gif

GOOD LUCK AND GOOD FISHING!!!
