Mr Special
Sorry, dont' mean to sound stupid. But I used to live 1983-1987 and fish Devils Lk quite a bit and never caught or heard of it having any Smallies there. Does anyone know if it does or not? Thanks
EBass
LOL, he's asking because of me. I swear I show a Tony Dean Outdoors show where he was hand feeding a smallie night crawlers. He was in a wetsuit. It was on about a year ago or so. Mr Special said he's never heard of that thus is the reason for the post. Anyone know? Gatores
Ok i dont want to sound stupid either, but by smallie do you mean small mouth bass? or whats a smallie?
Corey Heiser
I've spent many days on Devils Lake and never heard of anyone catching a smallmouth. The whitebass in DL can be huge. One other tidbit. The smallmouth fishing on Sak can be unreal. Many people don't talk about the smallmouth fishing, but it can be awesome.

smalls
I've never heard of smallies in Devils Lake although you don't have to go far from Devils Lake into the Sheyenne river system to find smallmouth bass. White bass, on the other hand, may be the most exciting fishing in DL. I certainly hope I can find a few feeding schools this summer with my fly rod. Ed Carlson
Tony may have been on Clear Lake in SD. He likes the Glacial Lakes region of NE SD and Clear Lake is well known for its sumo SM Bass. Clear Lake produced the last SD State Record SM Bass. There are more where that came from too.The Sheyenne River in ND has super SM Bass fishing on most of it’s length. A region that gets less pressure but had big SM Bass if the section below Valley City ND down through the Sheyenne Grasslands National Park. One of my favorite areas is from Little Yellowstone Park to North of Milnor ND. You will also find good walleye and catfishing on this section with little or no angler pressure. This region is a good candidate for a canoe float trip if you have a long weekend in mind.
