Dano2

Question

I'm getting rid of the clam 5600, as I fish by myself about 95% of the time, and i move around alot.

which brand 2 man flip over sets up and down the easiest. weight isn't a huge factor, but ofcourse is a plus for early season.

thanks

Personally, I like a lot of room. So my Otter Lodge (large 2 man) works great for me going solo. Sets up and takes down in under a minute. Early ice, packed light, it pulls fairly easy on foot. Even easier with the hifax kit installed. And later in the season, it tows great behind my four wheeler or snowmobile.

For even lighter weight options, check out the Otter Cottage (large 1 man) or Cabin (regular 2 man) models.

I'm a big fan of the Nordic 2 man by Polar Sports. It has all the quality materials you need and comes with two seats. Also, it weighs less than the otters. Set up is simple and I haven't had any problems with poles sticking in sub zero temps. All in all a great package.

I totally agree about the Nordic, have had mine now for a month and its great. Its so easy to setup and has great

padded swivel seats. Picked mine up at Gander Mt.

Take a look for yourself at there HSOforum

Slickest I would say is the clame guide. Its not the biggest but 2 guys are comfortable in it. The BEST PART is I can pick it up by myself and toss it in the back of my truck. Thats tough to do with the yukon or voyager.

I purchased a FishTrap Guide with a friend about eight years ago and it is starting to show some wear but it still is seviceable. I decided to shop around for a new flip-over this year after moving some distance away from my fishing partner. After looking at all the brands I decided to go with the Guide once again because I paid $240 (on sale) for it when the other brands were $300 and up. The bottom line is if you plan to spend half of your time fishing alone but want to have room for two the Guide works great. Loading it in and out of the truck is easy and pulling it around is no problem. I can't knock the other brands but the price was right and my old Guide served me very well.

Just my two cents.

Another thumbs up for the Guide. It's 'light-weight' enough for a single man to throw around. Plus, customer service is great if you have any problems after the purchase.

One addition - I think they changed the seating arrangement and the sled part of it so it may not be the same as the one I picked up 2 years ago.

Love my otter cabin. It can easily handle two guys plus gear as well as makes a nice home away from home for one man! I can easily load it into my SUV without any help. I have fished in quite a few of the other options out there and it has never crossed my mind to switch. I'm oviously a big fan!

If you are interested in the Guide - I just saw one in the for sale items forum...good luck with the purchase!

I have the Fish Trap Yukon and love it. All the seats, storage and gadgets that come with it for a good price. the sleds are much better than they used to be. I hooked up 2 trips ago with the Trap link and it was neat. We could talk and rip on each other when we missed fish! We put the CD player in the middle and jammed to Monsters of Rock and limited out on Walleyes! The Otters are nice but more expensive and you have to buy the seats, etc. For $300 bucks less it is a bargin!

As far as being heavy duty and longevity I would pick the Otter Lodge. I fished with one guy that said for as much as he fishes (about 20-30 times a year), it would last him 20 years. They might be little more upfront, but you see the payback after a few years.

The Otters also have some great options that make the comfort second to none.
