0 Moose-Hunter
Hi ksdog...WELCOME!! to Fishing Minnesota!!I found a NEW favorite this year. Actually TWO new favorites. First, for your crappie rod... It would be hard to beat the Tica Cetus LF500. Light weight, ULTRA smooth and reasonably priced. For my walleye rod, I went with a Shimano Symetre 750FI. It's a higher end unit, but let me tell ya... You really get your moneys worth from this reel!! You'll have to see it to believe it!!To look at these, and more, check out Thorne Bros Custom Rods & Tackle GREAT folks to deal with!! GREAT selection and fast shipping!! 0 SteveWilson
For an ultralight to light setup I like the Tica Cetus SS500 reel - great reel. For other setups I really like the Shimano Symetre, Shimano Stradic, and Quantum Energy PTi reels.
0 loebs93
I have a few Shimano Saharas that I got a good deal on and I love them. I think they retail for about $60. I like to consider them a good value for a reel.
0 LABS4ME
Tried them this year, and I don't think I'll be buying anything else! TICA CETUS!!!!!!!!!!!Good luck!Ken
0 Stradic
Hey Dietz, I think it's Stradic, but not sure, lol. Tica Cetus for the ice baby, real smooth, infinite drag real nice reel.

0 hanson
I put (2) Tica Cetus SS500s on 2 of my rods for this winter and am truly impressed!!!I just picked up another one the other week at Gander and it was 39.99. Is that the going price for the SS500s now? I could've sworn I paid $55+ this fall for these reels.I don't think you can argue with the Shimano's either. I've got (2) Spirex in the 500 size and other than the lack of instant anti-reverse on the Spirex, they are great reels.
0 gunflint
I'm with Deitz on this one. You will never regret a shimano stradic.
