Macgyver55
Anything that is paved (under the snow)is illegal. I believe that are well posted so there is no mistake. And they do check.............
Gissert
Some paved trails are open to stud use, such as the Central Lakes Trail by Fergus Falls. Most trail access points should be clearly signed regarding stud use.

Xplorer
From the Munger Inn parking lot in Duluth you may not ride on the trail with studs until you reach the Mission Creek road overpass. You are allowd to ride on the paved munger trail from Mission creek to Carlton. South of Carlton there is a seperate "studded sled" trail that runs parallel to the paved trail. It crisscrosses back and forth across the other, so ya gotta keep a good watch out for other sleds as you run. I havnt been south of Moose lake this year so cant comment on that portion. DNR is out on this section pretty regularily for speed/studs. Just keep an eye out for the signs/arrows on the trail for the stud track. A good place to eat south of duluth (and still on the stud allowed portion)is the Buffalo House, pretty good chicken and burgers.
