Thats pretty cool about the gill in that Pikes' stomach. You would think after getting a meal like that, he wouldn't have been hungry to hit your shiner too.

I have an idea about how to get the Y bones out but am not an expert. I might end up cleaning a pike a year for myself. Hope I didn't confuse the dump out of you with my rookie instructions. I may have to go back out to Medicine and catch one just for some practice.

Funny you mention that its surprising the fish hit a shiner with a belly full already.

Many moons ago, I got a 31 inch walleye opening night on a huge shiner minnow.

We flopped it in the bottom of the boat, and when I went to take out the hook, a pike tail was sticking out of her throat. Not a small hammer handle either.
