I had given some thought to that as well, just never really had a forum available to set it up easily.

The hunt/fish swap is a blast. I recently started doing it to trade a little phesant hunting for some fishing. In these times of land owners becoming more strict with hunting priveledges, an opportunity to hunt private land in exchange for some fishing help is a welcome trade.

Take time to speak over the phone with each other so you can find out if your personalities are some what compatible. You can learn alot about someone's ethics by asking about previous hunting stories or fishing stories. If you get someone on your land with a "if it flys it dies" attitude your hunt will stink and then you get to share a boat with the clown. We aren't all the same on this site and the suttle/small differences can cause the biggest problems. Poaching is easy to deal with but someone cracking a beer at the wrong time can make things uncomfortable. BE up front with what you expect on your land or in your boat. Laying these things out saves bitterness towards a potential friend.

The swapping is a good idea and deffinitely worth looking into. Try and get set up with something you've never done before so you can get the full experience of being guided. I have a Salmon trip to look forward to sometime next year and I never thought I could do that without spending hundreds on charter fees.

BTW the most important thing to remember, no one can make the fish bite, birds fly, and/or deer move. There is always an element of chance in the outdoors.

if somebody was willing to show me some sloughs that had enough water to attract some ducks i could line up some above average western minnesota pheasant hunting next fall...dogs included. i can find the pheasant no prob but i just dont get home enough to scout for ducks!

HUNT SWAP !! Sounds like the perfect name for an outdoors reality show, wouldnt it. That would be the only reality tv show I would watch.

Been doing hunting/fishing swaps for a couple years now with some ol' college buddies. Cheaper for everyone who wants to experience other ways to enjoy nature.
