Thinking of a new Bow sight?

Recommended Posts

I have a question regarding sights. I currently have a HHA single movable pin sight. All I ever hunt is whitetails, and I have had good luck with this sight. I guess I am just thinking about trying something a little different and I know a lot of people (including my Brother) are strong advocates of multiple pins. I am just curious what you guys would recommend. Like I said it isn't that I need a new sight, but if I am going to try something new it is a good time as I am done chasing deer. I can see the benefits of not having to adjust the yardage, but I also like not having to remember which pin.

For those that use Multiple pins how many do you go with? What colors? What Diameter? I shoot a Pro 38 Bow Tec so it spits the arrows out pretty good. Thanks for any feedback or suggestions.

for hunting I have mine set at 20-30-40 yards. I add a 50 and 60 if shooting outdoors in the summer at 3D and stuff. you will have to look at the size 19 and size 29 fiber optic to see which you like better. I prefer the smaller diameter outside cuz my eyes are getting older. Inside the larger works better. Lots of practice and you'll get use to which pin for the deer that's standing in front of you. red, green, yellow is a good set up red being 20 and so on. hope this helps a bit and have fun.

i got 4 pins, 10, 20, 30 ,40. green yellow, red, green. dont like my sight its the size 19 (if i remember correctly) and the pins dont give off light very well. not a sight to hunt late with. i have heard that the pins that are wrapped or have lots of fiber optic makes a world of difference. i am also thinking of switching. my pins get too dull and i cant even see them when legal shooting time rolls around. anyone have any advice on a 3/4 pin sight that gives off a good "glow" at low light?

Two pins is a good options with a fast bow like yours - set em at 25 and 35 yards. You will have to aim a bit low for real close shots. I've found green to be the brightest color and I put that for 25. If you use a peep, choose a sight with a round guard. I've shot 1,3, and 4 pins before and like two the best so far.

If you hunt from a tree stand much at all I highly recommend a good pendulum sight. I have used a Predator IV pendulum sight for 3 years now and I will never go back to a fixed pin sight. With the pendulum sight you don't have to worry about yardage anymore. When you are hunting from the ground it is just like having a single pin sight.
