Muskies on the Shield DVD

Has anyone else seen Dick Pearson’s new video, “Muskies on the Shield”? I bought mine a couple of weeks ago. It has some very good information in it along with some great topwater action. Just thought I would pass along this info in case anyone was looking for good muskie porn to get themselves through the winter.

I received this latest "porno" for x-mas. Love it. Dick P. is the king, and a nicer guy you'll never meet. I also like the Badfish video. They say they have another one coming....going to be available for the Extreme Muskie show late this month. If it weren't for the muskie porn, I'd never survive these long winters!

That is a good one Tom. Keep looking you might find it somewhere in there grin.gifgrin.gif.

These types of videos and books are about all that keep me sane during the winter months....I just love that piggie that hits the bobbie bait at boatside..could watch that all day.

I have most of the in-fishermen videos and the badfish video...does anyone else know of any other videos on the market that I should be watching?

Hiya,

Yeah, Dick's video is a hoot. Nice to see guys showing it like it is - i.e., fish never bite on cue, get off on their own, or get helped out when the angler - even a great one - goofs.

For those of you that have it, be sure to let the DVD run when you get to the end. There are some outtakes at the end that are priceless.

Cheers,

RK

Hiya (RK, hehe)

Mr.Kimm when are you going to put out a video? I know you have dome some cameos w/Pete, but with all your knowledge I've gotta believe we can learn much from you too... Or maybe just a day on the water, haha...

Hiya,

RU - I'm flattered, but, really, it's not something I've ever even considered. In 20 years when I know something about muskies, I'll maybe think about it. Honestly, I can't imagine anyone watching it anyhow. God knows I wouldn't. I think I have a better face for radio. smile.gif

Besides, don't think there's a better way to ruin a nice day of fishing than bringing a TV camera along. It really is a pain. Pearson basically dedicated two-plus seasons to his DVD, and that's a big investment. It shows - it's outstanding - but man, what a lot of work (and expense). I'll maybe do some shows on The Next Bite with Pete (although I skipped out on one this year to go to the St. Lawrence River instead - heh) but I don't have any aspirations for TV or video any time soon. Writing keeps me busy enough - moreso now since I'm going to be doing the muskie column for Outdoor News - and I enjoy that a whole lot more.

Cheers,

RK

RK,

I totally understand, I can't even imagine the expenses and time involved. I'm guessing the cameras and extra boats aren't volunteer workers.

I fish solo quite a bit and sure as heck wouldn't want a camera with to complicate the day.

Your articles are great, I didn't know you were writing for Outdoor News now too, that's pretty sweet.

Take care RK

Well, I got the new Jim Saric DVD in the mail on Saturday. Wow!!...very nice video..well done. Lots of good info regarding trolling, baits, open water fishing and more. I would recommend it to anyone that is into muskies.

I watched it again off and on through out the Vikes game. I am not a huge football fan..but I am glad they won.…...say what you want about Randy Moss...very talented man...but his behavior is something else. frown.gif

Has anyone else noticed a problem with the sound levels on Pearson's DVD. I love the DVD and would recomend it to anyone but found the audio on my copy to be very erratic.

Couple questions about the DVD- I've never read the book... is the DVD a reasonable substitute? How much for the DVD? Where can I order it the cheapest? Sounds like people generally think its worth the money.

In my opinion, the DVD is not a substitute for the book. I have both. Mr. Pearson states in the beginning of the DVD that the video is just to give you a taste of the Shield. He does offer a lot of information on combining different elements to improve your odds..etc. I ordered my copy of the ERC web site and I thought it was worth the cost. The only complaint I had was the sound quality. I thought it was difficult to keep the volume level consistent…no biggie.

Can someone list the full name of the location where the DVD can be purchased? I am not aware of who or what ERC is. I really enjoyed reading his book and would be interested in seeing the video.

Thanks for sharing the information.

Another very informative HSOforum that I found this week is THE NEXT BITE HSOforum. It is a great show on The Outdoor Channel that features mainly muskie, pike, and walleye fishing. There is a Q&A section that is one of the best I have seen. Pete Mania gives some great advise on muskie fishing. A yahoo search for The Next Bite will bring you right there.

I added one more video to my collection this past weekend..and I would recommend it to anyone. Its In-fishermen's "Muskie Masters". Its about one hour....its Doug Stange (sp?) spending a lot of time with Dick Pearson and Doug Johnson on LOTW. Lots of good info on tackle choices and presentations..trolling..etc.

I'm sure Dick P will have a booth at the Blaine Expo this year and most likely will have copies to sell at a special Expo price. Dick also has his own HSOforum where all his stuff is available.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
