Found the manual last night, it was new in 1987. The unit is seemingly bulletproof, no problems with it whatsoever. It was built before the advent of the IR circuitry so it does pick up interference from other units, but since almost everyone else has IR capabilities now, and if I'm fishing that close to someone it's usually someone I know, I just ask them to hit their IR button and mine clears up pretty well. Usually separation between houses of about 20-30' is enough to stop interference as well.
