frabillfisher
Hard water I think would be the closest to lake water..?
The Chemist
don't use the water that is softened. Get snow and melt it it's your best bet, make sure that you get it from where it won't have salt/sand in it. Or get some from a pond/lake. City water may still need to be treated for chlorine. Gus
I live in Blaine, use city water (no home softener) and I've had minnows alive for two weeks now. Changing the water every day or every other day right from the tap. It seems to be working for me so far. Might not hurt to try your city water if you don't have a option readily available. If they die then don't do it again.
TV BOY
Let your tap water sit in a bucket overnight and the clorine will come out. A tip I learned having aquariums. And keep the minnows in the garage.

fishin789
Go to the pet store and get some declorine drops. turn your cold kitchen water on high. that little screen in the facet is just like an airator. Add a few drops of declorine to the bucket and fill it up.I change the water in my minnow bucket every couple of days and never had a problem.oh ya if you have a lot of preasure you might want to divert the water with your hand as you are filling the bucket. so ya don't kill a few minnow from beating them to the bottom of the minnnow bucket.I also have an old fridge in the basement that I keep my bait in to keep them cool.
