auger not cutting

my brotherinlaw changed the blade on my hand auger, when I went out last night it wouldnt cut , any suggestions??? (Thank god my buddy had his)

The blades could be upside down.

My old hand auger used to have small shims underneath the blades to angle the blades correctly. Once, I misplaced the shims and put the sharpened blades on anyway. It cut lousy. Once I replaced the shims, I was back in business. If you lost the shims, they were really nothing more than thin metal. You could cut a couple of 1/4" wide strips it of a beer can and it would probably do the same thing. I think the shims were designed to angle the blade towards the ice meaning a sharper angel, not a flatter angle. I hope that helps!

I also agree, it got put back on upside down! Easy fix though!
