walldoggie
I have read most of the post about strikemaster versus jiffy. So now that i decided strikmaster, and have read almost everything there is about all the new models, the real question is "if price were no option which one would you get and why" because other then one being a little faster or having more blades they more or less seam all the same to me. I crappie and walleye fish so somedays will make lots of holes and somedays not so many and also have a vexilar in the hole to consider. thanks
walleyeguy7
good choice, i bought the lazer mag ultra 3- blade last year and i love it. it cuts a 9" hole pretty quick and theres plenty of room for the walleyes and electronics in the hole, i sometimes use a camera as well. the only problem that i've had is when its cold the blades have a tedancy to hold ice buildup making it difficult to start new holes. i found that if you keep it out of the snow and spin the blades after you drill it should be fine. i have also heard of waxing the auger but i havent tried it yet. as far as the new 4- blade i haven't heard much about yet but i have a friend who wants to get one so if you decide on that one i would like to know how it works. hope i helped you out. good luck! Bob Horn
If your blades are iceing up spray them with some cooking spray. You may have to apply it a couple of times a day.
Ole #1
Here's my 2 cents.I own a 3 hp 10 inch jiffy, it may be a little heavy and may not be as fast as some others but I've never had any issues with ice building up on my blade. I can re-punch holes without issues and I never need to sharpen the blade. This has been a no maitnence machine and I love it. I would much rather have a maitnence free auger than a lighter, faster auger that needs the blades sharpened and has to be waxed. Start, cut and fish, that's it. Eric Wettschreck
I have the 2000. Not cuz I bought it, but cuz my wife (whatta gal) bought it for me for Christmas a couple years ago.Ya don't hear me complaining about it at all. The thing I like best is that it will re-drill a hole like a hot knife through butter.
viking_fan
If I had to buy a new one I would go with the 224 mag.You can reopen holes with it and have one quick and lite auger.
knoppers
just purchased the laser mag. someone who knows strikemaster well told me to buy that one. I was planning on buying the 224, but he convinced me not to, plus the lazer mag was 50 bucks cheaper. used it wednesday, and it worked great, even in the -15 deg. temps. walldoggie
i think the 224 would be nice but sure seems like a lot of blades to replace and sharpen the ultra got the 9 in and the express well just a nice over all auger, man its a tough decision, seeing it is one of my x-mas presents and all
anyfishwilldo
I think for the money you cant beat the lazer mag express(2 blade) Cuts holes lightning fast, and I havent had any problems with the blades icing up(not sure what I am doing different).
