Strikemaster mag 2000 not starting...

Well I am really starting to get frustrated with my new auger. I bought the first one two days ago and the thing wouldn't start at all. Gas never left the tank. So I returned it yesterday for another one. Last night it started out of the box in four pulls, so I thought that I got a good one. But then this morning it took 15-20 pulls to start. I then used it all day and it took at least 10 pulls to start each time. One time it took 30+ pulls. What is going on here? I was told that it would start in 1-2 pulls every time. Any info would be appreciated. Wouldn't be that big of a deal but I have to drive an hour to return it to the nearest retailer.

Sounds very uncommon and especially with two different units.

Only "choke it" until it pops once and make sure your vent screw on the cap is open.

Sometimes I'll hit the on/off switch accidently or even remember to switch it on.. lol

Otherwise my mag express starts within 2-3 pulls...

Yeah I turn it on and choke it every time. It just never "pops" when I pull.

Ihad the same problem last year and where I bought it was too far away. Took it to Strikemaster near Big Lake on HWY 10. They put a new part in right there and had a reason for the part but I forgot what it was. I just walked in and they were great. I still have a problem with the recoil spring coming loose.

I have an older Lazer which should have the same engine as your auger.

The way I get mine to start is to:

Loosen the vent on the fuel cap.

Push the choke lever all the way down.

Pull until it starts.

Push the choke lever up.

Drill.

When I got my auger it didn't start or idle that well. I had to adjust a screw that controls gas flow on the underside of the powerhead to make it idle better. I called Strikemaster and they helped me over the phone.

I can identify with your situation, I own a new stealth

2HP that idles fine, but requires 7 to 10 pull's to start

after its been sitting, which is every time I go fishin

and this hard start situation matches the 2HP SM.and 2HP

Eskimo I'v owned.

Any interest in a primer for these?

Has anyone added a primer or found an answer for quicker

starts?
