Glow jig chargers

I have a question for everyone that uses those little key chain type "zappers" for lighting up the glow jigs/spoons.

What type or brand do you use ?

I've seen a couple of different kinds like ones that clip on your hat bill and others that light up a blue color, and others that are LED.

I have even heard that a flash from a camera works the best.

Edit--- Does anybody use the little snap and glow sticks that attach to your jig.

Sunlight... cool.gif

Or mag lite... laugh.gif

if all else fails, headlights? tongue.gif

Either that or the one Northland makes.

I guess it depends on the lure I'm charging, too. THe "zapper" types work OK on most jigs, but if you're using a Glow Optics jig, you need the brightest white light you can find, which is the good ol' sunshine. Lasts longer with those jigs.

As Capt. BKR has stated, JR's has a flashlight with 8led's instead of one bulb. They use three aaa batteries and they do one heck of a job charging these glow products. They are good for more than that though. They show an eerie blue when used as a flashlight for short distances and when hung in a portable offer enough light to see quite well without overwhelming a guy with light. The power draw is very low , so the batteries will last a long time.

The only thing I have used for charging glow jigs that might be betteris a camera flash, but they don't offer a longer exposure time like these lights can do. JR's is a site sponsor and can be seen by clicking on "our sponsors".

I have been using a photo flash for a number of years. I now recycle throw away cameras. If you make a reflective chamber you zap 360 degrees of the jig at one time. (works best if jig is suspended in the chamber)

I use wide mouth pill containers and line the containers with silver reflective tape. The chamber also helps contains the flash so you don't light up the whole area.

I was in the market for a smaller LED flashlight and saw the local baitshop had the JR flashlight on the counter so I grabbed one today. Wow, are they bright! Tip: Don't look directly into the light! grin.gif I'm still seeing spots.

The past few years I've been using the Lindy glo charging light, but I think I found it's replacement.

www.jrstackle.com We just gave away a bunch of these at our 1st Ice Gathering on Fish Lake and they were a big hit. Many uses and the battery's last a long time on these. If I need a more intense glow I use a camera flash with a box lined with aluminum foil and give the lure a quick snap. Super glow but tuff on batterys. JR's also carries a few other glow lights and they can be seen on there site.
