nate18
Do you guys tie your main line directly to the double coiled "O" ring, do you cut the "O" ring off and tie directly to the spoon, or do you use a clasp swivel, or do you use a fast snap. I have never use the go devil spoon before, just want some input on most effective way that produces the most fish. take care and good fishing, Nate Riddle [Note from Admin: you can see and purchase Go Devils by CLICKING HERE.]
Blaine
I never tie direct... The lip of the hole on the spoon will eventually wear through the line. Tying direct will also rob the sppon of most of it's action. Always tie to the split ring or if the spoon doesn't have one add a small snap swivel
Northlander
I either tie to the O ring or use a small cross snap to the lure and a barrel swivel up my line a couple feet or so. Im not a big fan of snap swivels directly to my spoons. The swivel up the line is less visible and still takes away the line twist. Just dont go too big on either the snap or swivel and be sure to use a good quality swivel.
Borch
I always use a small snap even with teh split ring to make switch spoons a quick easy procedure. I hammered the slabs on the 1/16 oz and 1/8 oz varieties last winter. Also works very well for walleyes and perch.
Ray Esboldt
I agree with Blaine's comment, the split ring gives the bait better action. I think you could remove the split rings on these baits if you felt the need. The eye is well rounded, so it shouldn't be a line cutter. But, there are many other spoons where tying direct would be a poor choice.
slick814
Tie to the O-ring for sure. YOu don't want to cut that ring off unless it's completely bent or something. One thing to remember when you buy, use, etc. new lures. The manufacturer has tested it the way they sold it. If you alter the lure in any way, you may lose a lot of the action that was designed into that lure. Sometimes tuning a Rapala or something like that can help the action, but for the most part, I try to leave them in as original condition as possible. Surface Tension
You'll want to tie directly to the split ring or use a small cross lock to the split ring with Go Devils. I don't like the swivel next to the lure either. Use 24" low-vis leader with a swivel to your main line.
Deitz Dittrich
I'm with the rest on this post.. Tie Driectly to the "o" ring. Its important to the action of the lure. Taking the ring off and tieing directly the the spoon istelf would hurt its action!
Scenic
By leaving on the split ring you will get more action from your spoons. I will either tie to the split ring or use a “fas snap” to make changing spoons a bit quicker without losing action. we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Rick Posted December 7, 2004 we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Share Posted December 7, 2004 The same deal applies with the Angel Eye Jrs. It makes it easier for them to wobble way off to the side when they can layout as they drop.
