is 2 hp good enough for 10" Blade

I am buying a new auger this weekend or next I was planning on going with a 2hp with 10 inch blade, but i have had several people tell me if i am going with the 10" to get 3 hp. any thoughts would be appreciated. Adam

It should be alright, the 3hp just has more power. Which brand are you thinking about?

I've drilled five seasons worth of holes with a 2hp strikemaster with the 10 inch blade. As long as you take care of you blades, you will be ok.

I would consider looking at a 9" with the 2HP in a Jiffy Stealth. A far better match for power and the hole is plenty big for the biggest of fish under the ice.

I have the 2hp strikemaster with the 10" blade and it cuts great. I use bombardier synthetic oil mixed at 75 to 1 which gives it better performance. Even without synthetic a 2hp is enough engine.

I decided to go with the strikemaster 2hp with 10" blade. I looked at the jiffy stealth but can get the strikemaster for about 100 dollars less. Thanks for the replys. Adam

One thing to consider is with a 3hp, it needs to warm up alittle for max power. Once it warms up its great.

I seen Jiffy Stealth 2hp 10" for $275 special last weekend with case and oil. Cheapest stikemaster 10" was for $300 and it was the black mag xpress.

i have the jiffy 3hp 10 inch blade, plenty of power. i'm sure the 2hp will do just fine.

After some more research i have decided to get a eskimo shark with a 9" blade. Adam
