the reason the fans boo in green bay is because football is everyones life there and when you are a hillbilly and have nothing to do but watch the lousy packers and spend 500% over face value on tickets you would boo too! the pack are 4-4 at the unbeatable lambeau this year the vikes are 5-2 at the dome it's a beautiful thing watching favre play in a dome.

I've heard plenty of booing at the metrodome, though usually its going strong as the Vikings walk into the lockerroom at half time.

I've read in some posts refering to fans that are booing the Pack as bandwagon. THat is farthest from the the truth. Booing at a game or leaving early because of a blow out hardly defines bandwagon. The truth is the fans still came back even after being blown out by TN. The Pack could go 4-12 the next 5 years and I bet Lambeau would still be sold out every single game. You can't say the same thing about Minnesota fans. So Packer fans aren't bandwagoners, they are just passionate and loyal, something most Viking fans aren't.

So if you are doing whatever you do and it isn't going well and you have people there to support you and they boo you is that loyal? I'd say they jumped ship.

Vikings fans boo a plenty, if the vikes went 4-12 for 5 yrs there would not be many people at the games. I don't think that is a bad thing but then Vikes fans are not claiming to be the greatest fans in the world.

I don't thing booing or leaving early in a blowout is bandwagon, so I will defend the Pack fans in that sense. But I do work in a bar part time and have spent many Sundays serving the football crowd. I will tell you that the amount of Green and Gold does go up and down with the success of the Packers. That does tell me there is some bandwagon in the fans. That does not make the Pack fans bad, that just makes them the same as everbody else.

As far as the Pack selling out, it is absolutely correct that after 5 years of bad football, Lambeau will still sell out and the Dome might not. I would say that has to do with a Vikes fan being able to spread his loyalties out between many different teams and spend his/her money on a quality product at any time. I will watch the Vikes every Sunday regardless of their record but I also live withing 7 miles of The Dome, The Target Center, The Xcel, and the University of Minnesota. I will spend my money on the best product. I don't think that is bandwagon but smart shopping.

We've already covered this about bandwagon. If people are jumping ship so much why does it take 30 years to get season tickets. About your four major sports teams. Is it fair to count the Wild when they are in a lockout. Also, the wolves won their first playoff series last year, and have bowed out early prior to that. With the twins, they have been good as of late and still they have a lower attendance than the dismal brewers. Good call on supporting your team. Hey isn't this a football forum.

We don't support the Brewers or the Bucks? Obviously you are either not informed or not well researched, so I will break down the numbers for you which makes MN fans even more pathetic.

The Brewers have outdrawn the Twins 3 out of the past 4 years(1,900+ fans per game in 2004). This is with the Twins being Central division champs for the past, what 3 years? Yeah you really support a winner. If the Brewers had a club like that they'd out draw the Twins even more. Or if the Twins had the club Milwaukee had they'd be that much farther behind.

This year the Bucks are 9 games below .500 and the Wolves are +7. The Wolves outdraw the Bucks by only 177 fans per game. Once again Wisconsin fans supporting a non winning franchise.

So don't accuse Wisconsin fans of only supporting a winning team. If you want that I'd say you best look at Minnesota.

Pathetic is waiting 30yrs for tickets to a game then booing your team.

Minnesota will much more strongly support a winner than a loser, pretty much like anything else in the world.

The Brewers have outdrawn the Twins because of one thing...a new stadium.

Funny how there seems to be more fans for the visiting team than for the Brewers on any given night.....yea, really supporting your team there grin.gif

pathetic is waiting 30 years for tickets, finally get them and have a good football team play like dump! they get paid millions to put on a show for the fans, they should get booed.

what's the diff if a coach goes in at half time and rips the team a new a-hole or a fan boos? we're both trying to get something out of them, a better performance!

by the way, good luck this weekend!! wink.gif

Nolte,

It takes 30 years to get season tickets because they are the most prized possessions in GB and are handed down through families. The best marketing in the world can't buy you what you got. Nobody in the world would let those go when things go because they will never get them back. So even if they aren't thrilled with the product on the field they hang on to them. The fans in the stands are not all the Packer fans in Wisconsin. I stand by my previous statement that all NFL teams have bandwagon fans. Vikes and Packers alike.

Yes, you can count the Wild even though they are in a lockout. You counted the Brewers and they aren't playing at the moment either. The Wild have sold out every game in their existence. All losing seasons. I guess, maybe we do support bad teams also.

Tom

The three years prior to Miller park the brew crew averaged roughly 7 thousand more per game than the twins. Both had lower attendance than now but overall popularity for baseball has gone up since then I think. Everybody knows the twins need a new stadium. My dad and grandpa always talk about going to outdoor games at night down at the Met in Bloomington.(I think that was the name of it)Now you couldn't pay them enough to go see one at the hole they call the metrodome.

As for someones comment about Favre and painkillers. Please get over it, it is your favorite comment and comeback for everything. Similiar situations have happened to other players and they ride it to the bottom and end up out of football. Give the guy a little credit.

I like the wild, but comparing their situation to brewers is dumb because they should be playing. Also they haven't had all losing season, weren't they in the playoffs here recently.

I think we should stop kidding ourselves and admit that our intensity for a team increases when they are on top and winning. But to compare Pack fans to Vikes fans on a bandwagon basis is not even close. You guys aren't big enough fish to pull that bobber down.

Ohhh this is funny!!!

Toilet Bowl II this friday should be interesting as it is about all either team can hope for.

Good luck and happy holidays to all this weekend. Probably enough ice here, I plan to listen to the game on the lake.

when was the last time the brewers have been in the playoffs? this team is a joke to compare them to the twins is stupid maybe they have more people going to the games but the twins have a much better team plus twins brewers games at wis there is about 60% twins fans there
